Praise of you has never been set free among people
without your wealth being held captive to generosity.
You bestowed on us a sun and a full moon, bringing light
through them to the pitch-black darkness in our midst.
A fawn came to us, a Yusuf in beauty,
and a gazelle, a Bilqis in splendor.
All this, yet you were not content with him and her,
until you sent money, precious as it is.
The slave girl came carrying a bag of coins,
and the purse came on the slave boy's back.
And you clothed us in what was woven so finely
by Egypt, its beauty further enhanced by Tinnis.
So, through your generosity, we had food and
drink, bedfellows, and clothing.
