I am afflicted by the fairest of the two
I have been afflicted with the fairest of humans and jinn,
races—whether he comes or turns away:
in his coming and his going.
like a fawn when he turns to look,
For he is like a fawn when he turns to look,
and like a bough when it bends.
and like a branch when he bends.
He keeps me waiting for his favor,
He delays granting me his favor,
though all he has bestowed on me is sorrow.
though he has already bestowed sorrow on me.
I take his union on promise,
And I receive union with him as a promise,
while he takes my soul in advance.
while he takes my lifeblood in advance.
