I love his name for his sake—and his namesake too;
I love his name for his sake, and his namesake too.
and my heart follows him in every trait of his.
And my heart follows him in all his ways.
He passes by hostile folk, and so I love them,
He passes by my enemies, and so I love them,
though every one of them secretly harbors war against me.
Though each harbors in his heart the will to war against me.
To God I complain of all I suffer, in hope that He
To God I complain of what I suffer; perhaps He
may graciously bring about a state that reunites us soon.
Will favor us with circumstances that reunite us soon.
Whenever I say, “Age has not yet brought me so far,”
When I say, 'Age has not yet carried me far,'
I think again of a child who went before me into the dust.
I am admonished by a child who went before me to the dust.
