Lightning of the sanctuary, you are the one
Who kindled its fragrant ambergris.
And you took on the likeness of the [teeth],
Gleaming white, in the fairest fashion.
Who will bring me the ʿĀmirī woman's she-camels?
If only they would wear my cheek as sandals!
O arrow of her eye, toward
My heart you come—so pierce through!
Who is my rescuer? No, I was mistaken.
And from you I seek my rescuer.
Forever, in whispered thoughts of you,
I seek refuge from the reproacher.
