The turtledove of the predawn hours delights me.
I sing on my branch as she sings.
A young gazelle has captured me; my heart suffers for him.
From longing, while my eye rejoices in the sight.
How strange, the inflammation that has afflicted his eye!
I had thought the full moon could not have inflamed eyes.
How did his eye take on a red hue,
When a red narcissus is unheard of?
Her Harut has appeared, and her Marut;
Their knowledge of magic cannot be denied.
