And I once saw him swimming in the water,

And the shadows of his hair fluttered over him.

As his hair cast shadows upon him

فظننت أن البدر قابل وجهه

وجه الغدير فلاح فيه خياله

So I thought that the full moon’s face had met

I thought the full moon had met his face

The pool’s face, and its reflection gleamed within it.

His face shone in the pond, his shadow revealed
