My heart ran dry of longing, and so ebbed
My heart dried of yearning and my tears flowed
My tears, and grew barren some time ago.
And I’ve been desolate for so long
وحسبتand I thought الدموعtears ذكرىa memory توارتvanished
وحسبت الدموع ذكرى توارت
بينamid ماضيthe past of حياتيmy life المكنونhidden !
بين ماضي حياتي المكنون !
And I thought tears a memory that had vanished
I thought my tears were memories that faded
Amid my life's hidden past!
Between my concealed past life!
وإذاand suddenly بيwith me أودعI bid farewell to اليومtoday عهداan era
وإذا بي أودع اليوم عهدا
فتفيضso they overflow الدموعtears ملءfilling الجفونthe eyelids
فتفيض الدموع ملء الجفون
And suddenly, today, I bid farewell to an era,
But today I made a pact
So tears overflow, filling the eyelids,
And my tears brimmed over
فيin انسكابan outpouring يغضdetracts منfrom كبريائيmy pride
في انسكاب يغض من كبريائي
واضطرابand turmoil يرتاعtakes fright منهat it سكونيmy stillness
واضطراب يرتاع منه سكوني
In an outpouring that diminishes my pride,
Flowing uncontrollably, wounding my pride
And a turmoil that frightens my stillness.
And disturbing my tranquility
ياO دموعtears الوفاءloyalty أنتنّyou all أغلىmore precious
يا دموع الوفاء أنتنّ أغلى
أنto ترقرقنyou well up للوفاءfor loyalty الغبينdeluded !
أن ترقرقن للوفاء الغبين !
O tears of loyalty, you are too precious
O tears of loyalty, you are so precious
To well up for deluded loyalty!
