لوif أَنَّthat أَصْحَابِيmy companions بَنُوsons of الصَّوَاهِلِal-Sawahil
لو أَنَّ أَصْحَابِي بَنُو الصَّوَاهِلِ
لَنَهْنَهُواthey would have driven back عَنِّيaway from me بِضَرْبٍwith a blow بَاسِلِfierce
لَنَهْنَهُوا عَنِّي بِضَرْبٍ بَاسِلِ
If my companions had been the sons of al-Sawahil,
If my companions, sons of Al-Sawahil,
they would have driven them back from me with a fierce blow.
They would have dissuaded me with a strong blow,
