لَوif أَنَّهُthat he كانَwere جُزءَa volume فِقهٍjurisprudence
لَو أَنَّهُ كانَ جُزءَ فِقهٍ
لَماwould not عَداgo beyond جامِعَa compendium of العُيوبِthe flaws
لَما عَدا جامِعَ العُيوبِ
If he were a volume of jurisprudence,
Had he been versed in wisdom's lore,
He would be no more than a compendium of flaws.
He would have shunned the faults he bore.
