كَتَطرِيفِlike henna-dyeing the fingertips of كَفٍّa hand قَدalready أَحَاطَتencircled بَنَانُهُits fingers
كَتَطرِيفِ كَفٍّ قَد أَحَاطَت بَنَانُهُ
بِقَلبِaround the heart of مُحِبٍّa lover لَيسَdoes not يَخبُوdie down أُوَارُهُits blaze
بِقَلبِ مُحِبٍّ لَيسَ يَخبُو أُوَارُهُ
Like the henna-tipping of a palm whose fingertips have encircled
Like a henna-tipped hand whose fingers have closed
a lover’s heart, whose blaze never dies down.
Around a lover’s heart whose blaze does not die down.
