قالواthey said وَقَدand indeed طالَlasted long بيfor me مَدىthe duration of خطئِيmy wrongdoing
قالوا وَقَد طالَ بي مَدى خطئِي
وَلَمand did not أَزَلI cease فيin تَجَرُّميmy sinning ساهِيheedless
وَلَم أَزَل في تَجَرُّمي ساهِي
They said, as my wrongdoing had long continued,
They said, when my sin's long course was run,
and I still remained heedless in my sinning:
"Thou desperate sinner, prepare for hell!"
أَعدَدتَhave you prepared شَيئاًanything تَرجوyou hope for النَّجاةَsalvation بِهِthrough it
أَعدَدتَ شَيئاً تَرجو النَّجاةَ بِهِ
فَقُلتُso I said أَعدَدتُI have prepared رَحمَةَthe mercy of اللَّهِGod
فَقُلتُ أَعدَدتُ رَحمَةَ اللَّهِ
“Have you prepared anything through which you hope for salvation?”
"Nay," I replied, "I have prepared One
So I said, “I have prepared God's mercy.”
On whom I trust--God's tender mercy well."
