كَأَنَّas though بُكاهاher weeping مِنfrom سُرورٍjoy فَدَمعُهاfor her tears
يُثيرُstir سُروراًjoy فيin جَوانِحِinner breast ذيone with خَبلِmadness
As though her weeping came from joy, for her tears
Her crying seems to be out of joy, so her tears
stir joy in the breast of one deranged.
Stir up joy in the heart of one in despair
كَذاكَlikewise السحابُthe clouds الغَزرُrain-rich تُرسِلُsend forth دَمعَهاtheir tears
سَريعاًswiftly وَتَمشيand move فيin السماءِthe sky عَلىat مَهلِleisure
So too the rain-rich clouds send forth their tears
Likewise the pouring raincloud sheds its tears
swiftly, and move in the sky at leisure.
Swiftly, yet it moves slowly across the sky
كَأَنَّas though السَّحابَthe clouds الغُرَّwhite أَلقَتhad confided بِسِرِّهاtheir secret
إِلَيهاto her فَلَمso she did not تكتُمconceal وَضاقَتand she was unequal عَنِto الحَملِthe burden
As though the white clouds had confided their secret
As though the raincloud has confided its secret
to her, so she did not conceal it and could not bear the burden.
To her, which she could not conceal, and was too heavy to bear
