قليلٌ غناؤُهُمُ في الهياجِ

قليلٌ غناؤُهُمُ في الهياجِ

إذا ما تنادوا لأمرٍ شديد

Little is their use in the fray,

Their singing is little in tumult

When they summon one another for a grave matter.

When they call each other for intense matter

وأنتُم كلابٌ لدى دُورِكُم

وأنتُم كلابٌ لدى دُورِكُم

تهرُّ هريرَ العقورِ الرصُود

تهرُّ هريرَ العقورِ الرصُود

And you are dogs beside your homes,

While you are dogs at your abodes

Growling like a vicious dog lying in wait.

Barking the bark of stubbornness resolute

وأنتم ظاربيُّ إذا تجلسونَ

وأنتم ظاربيُّ إذا تجلسونَ

وما إن لنا فيكم من نديد

وما إن لنا فيكم من نديد

And you are polecats when you sit,

And you are hitting when you sit

And among you we have no equal.

And we have not among you an equal

وأنتم تيوسٌ وقد تُعرفونَ

وأنتم تيوسٌ وقد تُعرفونَ

بريحِ التيُوسِ وقُبحِ الخُدُود

بريحِ التيُوسِ وقُبحِ الخُدُود

And you are he-goats, and may be recognized

While you are ibexes and are known

By the stench of he-goats and the ugliness of your cheeks.

By the ibex smell and the ugliness of cheeks
