هاجِرَتيmy forsaker ياO بِنتَdaughter آلِthe house of سَعدِSaʿd
آآنis it because حَلَبتِyou milked لِقحَةًa milch-camel لِلوَردِfor al-Ward
You who shun me, O daughter of the house of Saʿd,
Is it because you milked a milch-camel for al-Ward
جَهِلتِyou were ignorant مِنof عِنانِهِhis rein المُمتَدِّoutstretched
وَنَظَريand my gaze فيupon عِطفِهِhis neck الأَلَدِّstubborn
That you knew nothing of his stretched rein,
And of my gaze upon his stubborn neck,
إِذاwhen جِيادُfine steeds الخَيلِthe horses جاءَتcame تَرديgalloping
مَملوءَةًfilled مِنwith غَضَبٍanger وَحَردِand wrath
When the fine horses came galloping,
Filled with anger and wrath?
