1. أيَّدتُمُ دارتكم كلَّها

    في الحسن بالمسجد والمشهد

    You have built your house completely

    Beautiful with mosque and shrine

  2. ألاّ التي بالسر ما ذنبها

    لا تتركوها قحَلة العُوّدِ

    Alas for her in secret, what was her crime

    Do not leave her bare of tent poles

  3. أترابها فازت بمطلوبها

    وهي من المطلوب صِفر اليد

    Her companions won what they sought

    While she remains empty-handed

  4. والنَفس لا تسمح عن حَقِّها

    إلاّ اذا كان الى سؤدد

    The soul does not forgive its due

    Unless led to a sleeping place

  5. والنَّدبُ لا يصرف عن مقصدٍ

    وجهاً وكان الخير في المقصد

    Lament does not turn one from purpose

    However good the purpose is

  6. والشيء قد يحسنُ إن نالَه

    فضلٌ ولو كان من الجلمد

    A thing may be improved if

    Grace touches it, even if of skin

  7. أني لأرجوا أن تشِيدوا هُنا

    لله بيتاً صفوة المهتدي

    I do hope you build here

    For God a house, elite of the guided

  8. يبقى الى الحشر لكم مفخراً

    فذّاً يَرى كالعلَم المفرد

    Remaining till Resurrection, pride for you

    A banner seen like a lone flag

  9. يَزهَرُ في الهجرة زيناً لها

    عِقداً من الجوهر والعسجد

    Flourishing in the Hijrah, its adornment

    A necklace of gems and chrysolite

  10. تأمَلوا الروضة ما زانها

    لو لم تَحُلّوا سفحها والنَّدى

    Consider the garden, what adorned it

    Had you not shaded its slope and dew

  11. هل كان الا جامعاً شمسُهُ

    لألآؤُها بين يدي أحمدِ

    Would it be other than a collector of its rays

    Its beads before Ahmad

  12. كان له سيفا يشق الدجى

    في اللحد بل حصناً من الأسود

    It had for him a sword cleaving the darkness

    Even in the grave, a fortress from the lions

  13. كَان له قصراً بدار البقى

    جنّة عدنٍ عذبة المورد

    It had for him a palace in the lasting abode

    A fresh, sweet Eden

  14. دعني وما قلتُ وراءَ الحِمى

    دَاركُم تصبو الى المعبَد

    Leave me be and what I said beyond zeal

    Your house aspires to the sanctuary

  15. مفتونة بالرَّب لا تبتغي

    منكم سوى مسجدها الأوحدِ

    Bewitched by the Lord, it seeks nothing

    From you but its unique mosque

  16. الوجد قد فتَّت أكبادها

    واللحظ بالدمعة لم يُجَمد

    Passion has shredded its entrails

    The glance, with tears, has not frozen

  17. والشوق أنساها تعاليمها

    والعلم فيها رائحٌ مغتدي

    Yearning made it forget its teachings

    Knowledge in it, a transgressing odor

  18. لم يَبقَ من محفوظها إن رَوت

    للناس إلا مسجدي مسجدي

    If it related to the people, nothing of its keeping

    Remained except "My mosque, my mosque."
