أرى قلبي على أسما

مرضت لموته حولا

وغيري يمرض اليوما

I was sick from her death for a year

While others fall sick today

ويا أروى لقد طيّر

تِ من الحاظي النوما

Oh Rawya you have stolen

The sleep from the fortunate one

وبلبلت أبا يخشى

على أمك أن تعمى

And you confused Abu Yaksha

For your mother, fearing she'd go blind

عيال كلهم كانوا

نجوماً تفضح النجما

All the children were

Stars exposing the stars

فقدناهم بعام وام

حد يا سوء ما حُمّا

We lost them in a year or two

What evil, oh what evil

رماهم حادث الأيام

سهما نافذا أصمى

The days' accident struck them down

A piercing arrow that blinded

لها قلب رقيق لا

يطيق لحزنهم يوما

She has a tender heart that

Cannot bear their sorrow for a day
