تاهوا بجهلهم وما

عرفوا الحقيقة أين توجد

They went astray in their ignorance, not

They wandered in their ignorance and did not

knowing where the truth lies.

Know where the truth is to be found

وتسنموا سبل الغواية

والغواية شر مقصد

They climbed the paths of temptation,

They climbed the paths of misguidance

and temptation leads to evil.

And misguidance is an evil destination

ودعوا الأنام إلى التمرد

والتمرد ليس يحمد

They called people to rebel,

They called the people to rebellion

though rebellion earns no praise.

And rebellion is not to be praised

جحدوا الإله ولست أدر

ي كيف رب الناس يجحد

They denied God—I cannot grasp

They denied God, and I do not know

how the Lord of mankind can be denied.

How the Lord of mankind can be denied

هب أنهم ما أدركوا

خلق الملائك والمجرد

Grant that they did not comprehend

Grant that they did not perceive

the creation of angels and the immaterial.

The creation of angels and the unseen

أو ليس في خلق الكوا

كب آية للّه تعهد

Is there no sign of God in the creation

Is there not in the creation of the stars

of the stars, those magnificent witnesses?

A sign of God to be witnessed?

أترى تقوم بناية

من غير بان أو مشيد

Do you suppose a structure could stand

Do you see a building rise

without a builder or a mason?

Without a builder or one to raise it?

عميت عيون لا ترى

آيات بارئها الممجد

Blinded are the eyes that do not see

Blind are the eyes that do not see

the signs of their glorious Creator.

The signs of their Glorious Creator

سبحان من في خلق ما

في الكون طرا قد تفرد

Glory to Him whose creation

Glory to Him who, in the creation of what

in the universe is unmatched!

Is in the universe entirely, stands unique

سبحان من بكماله

فات العقول ولم يقيد

Glory to Him whose perfection

Glory to Him who by His perfection

surpasses minds and cannot be bounded!

Surpasses all minds and is not bound
