لمثلك يا مولى العلا أنظم الشعرا

فوصفك قد حاكى الدراري والدرا

For the like of you, O Master of Highness, I compose poetry

So your description has depicted pearls and gold

وأنت سلاف العصر أكرم أهله

سلالة أسلاف الكرام بني الزهرا

You are the best of the time, most generous of its people

A lineage of generous ancestors, the family of Zahra

فذلك طه المصطفى ووزيره

علي فقد أمسيت أعلى الورى نجرا

So that is Taha al-Mustafa and his minister

Ali has thus become the highest of all creation

وقد سرت من عهد الصبا سيرتيهما

فكنت السعيد السيد الرأس والصدرا

I have followed their exemplary tradition since my youth

Thus I was happy, a master, a leader and a guide

فوفقت للتقوى وفقت ذوي الهدى

بأعمالك الحسنى وأخلاقك الغرا

I succeeded in piety and followed the rightly guided

Through your good deeds and manners so pure

وفزت بإحسان إلى مستحقه

فحزت به من ربك الحب والأجرا

And I attained benevolence towards its deserver

Thus, from your Lord, you won love and reward

وجاهدت في الرحمن حق جهاده

فأولادك في الأولى الوجاهة والأخرا

And you strived in service of God as is His right

Thus your children attained grace in this life and the next

وأودعت شهر الصوم خير عبادة

وودعتهُ بعد اعتكافك بالسرا

You endowed the month of fasting with the best of worship

And bid it farewell, after secluding yourself, with delight

فابشر بأجر وافر متزايد

فأنت شكور بالمزيد له احرا

So receive ample and growing reward

For you are thankful, with increase, you merit more

مع العلم حاز الحلم والمجد والقدرا

My Master Abdelkader Al-Husseini, who

Combined knowledge, forbearance, glory and might

لأنت إذا عد الأكارم مبتدا

لك الخبر المبدي الغوالي والعطرا

For when the generous are counted

Yours is the first name, the most fragrant and sweet

تهنأ بما أوليتهُ من كرامة

فأنت ولي المشتكى الضيم والضرا

Congratulations for the prestige you have been granted

For you are the patron of the oppressed seeking respite

ويا أيها المولى الذي بولائه

أصبنا الهدى ثم الهدية والبرا

And O Master, through whose guardianship

We attained guidance, then gifts and righteousness

وجل به ذا العصر إذ هو سعده

وباهت دمشق الشام مذ حلها مضرا

The era was honored when you arrived

And Damascus beamed since the Mudar tribe settled it

واشبه جود السحب جود يمينه

فسائله من سيله أحرز اليسرا

Your generosity resembles clouds' downpour

So ask and from his torrent, gain ease

وبشر محياه ببشر وفده

بما جل رفد واسع يطرد الفقرا

And greet his lifespan with good tidings

Of abundant hospitality that banishes poverty

هو البر والبحر الذي كل سائل

بساحله يغني ولا يجد النهرا

He is land and sea, every questioner

At his coast is enriched, the Nile itself in dearth

هو الكعبة الغراء دوما يحجها

ذو والحجر عالو الكعب ثم بنو الغبرا

He is the noble Kaaba, forever encircled

By disciples and successors then children of dust

شمائله تحكي الشمال لطافة

إذا وردت ورد الربا فجرت فجرا

His traits depict the gentle north wind

That makes spring pour forth when it blows

تواضعه واللطف زاداه هيبة

وهيبته معها المحامد تستقرا

His humility and kindness add to his awe

And his awe settled with praise

له منصب الفضل الرفيع مؤبدا

يجر له اقصى ثناء الملا جرا

He has a permanent station of sublime merit

That attracts the scholars' utmost acclaim

امام به ائتم الهداة وانهم

بذلك قد نالوا السعادة والذكرا

The guided imams seek his leadership

And through that, they gained bliss and remembrance

أمير يسبر الركب بحدو بوصفه

كما باسمه يلقى التيمن والبشرا

An emir who points the caravan with his judgment

And like his name, encounters prosperity and good news

هو الألمعي الصائب الرأي والحجا

هو الطاهر الذيل الذي يكره النكرا

He is the brilliant, the insightful guide

He is the pure, the honorable who hates baseness

فما خامر الفحشاء خاطر قلبه

ولا لفظ النطق الهراء ولا الهجرا

Immorality never occurs to his heart

Nor vile words from his tongue or estrangement

له نسب عال ونفس زكية

على حسب سام له يجلب الأطرا

He has a high lineage and a pure soul

Matching the sublime ties that attract prestige

على حبه كل البرية اجمعوا

واحر به ان حاز حب الورى طرا

All humankind agrees on loving him

And how worthy for the world's love to orbit around him

وإني لا انفك دهري أسيره

ويا حبذا أسر به تكرم الأسرا

I remain forever his captive

How worthy the captivity that brings honor

فلا زال يحكي الشمس في أفق العلا

وأنجاله تحكي كواكبها الزهرا

He continues to depict the sun on the horizon of loftiness

And his children depict its shining stars

ولا زالت الأملاك تهدأ حوله

وكل ملوك الأرض تهدي له الفخرا

The angels continue to feel reassured around him

And all earth's kings send him glorious tidings

ودامت معاليه العوالي كميلة

ودام يؤدي للإله بها شكرا

May his sublime attributes last eternal

As he maintains thanking God through them

ولا زال يطري بالفضائل والتقى

بلا كدرٍ يعرو ولا حادث يطرا

And may he continue to soar in virtue and piety

With no distress to mar or misfortune to shake
