1. السعد قال بهذا العرس مفتخراً

    صفوه أحسن وصف أيها الشعرا

    The auspicious one said of this wedding boasting

    Describe it in the best description O poet

  2. فطاوعوه وقالوا ما يليق به

    من التهاني والأوصاف حين جرا

    So they obeyed him and said what befits it

    Of congratulations and descriptions when it occurred

  3. وانني واصفٌ ما قد علمت به

    من المعالي وان قصرت معتذرا

    And I describe what I have known of

    The sublime qualities though I fall short apologizing

  4. فثغر بيروت أمسى باسماً بهجاً

    به وافراحه قامت بمن حضرا

    So the mouth of Beirut has become joyfully named

    With it and its joys it stood with those who attended

  5. زفت به من ذوات الخدر ماجدة

    لماجد كفئها لا زال معتبرا

    It was brought with distinguished gentlewomen

    Worthy of its glory it remains esteemed

  6. وزف في موكب كادت كواكبهُ

    تحكي نجوم السماء الزُهر حيث سرا

    And walked in a procession almost as if its stars

    Retold the stars of the heavens where it flowed

  7. لا غرو وان كلا الزوجين فرع علا

    من اصل مجدله كل الورى شكرا

    No wonder both spouses are branches of a lofty

    Origin thanked by all creation

  8. اعني بني بيهم من صيتهم حسن

    في كل قطر كريح المسك منتشرا

    I mean the sons of Bayhem whose reputation is good

    In every place like the scent of musk spreading

  9. لا سيما حسن ذو العرس من شهدت

    له المعارف لما حازها ودرا

    Especially the groom whom knowledge has witnessed for

    When he attained it studying

  10. وفعله كاسمه لكنه رجلل

    له مكارم اخلاق بها اشتهرا

    His actions match his name but he is a man

    Known for the morals of character he gained

  11. جر الكمال له طيب الكلام اما

    ترى الثناء عليه في الورى كثرا

    Perfection comes to him and gentle speech though

    You see praise of him plentiful in existence

  12. لا زال مع عرسه الغراء في نعم

    موفقين بسعدٍ فيهما ظهرا

    May he and his precious wedding remain in bliss

    Successful with fortune manifest in them

  13. اني له قلت كن فيما نؤرخه

    ودم هما مشبهان الشمس والقمرا

    I said to him be among what we date

    And last long like two suns and moons
