ادمع عين على الخدين فياض

ابيت طول ليالي الهجر ابكيك

My eyes shed tears down my cheeks so plentifully

I stay up whole nights of separation crying for you

أنت التي منك جدت كل امراضي

واسأل الله منها الدهر يحميك

You are the one I have found all my illnesses from

And I ask God to protect you from them forever

دعي الذي قد جرى في عصرنا الماضي

فما الذي لوصالي الآن يدنيك

Leave what has passed in our time gone by

For nothing now will bring you closer to my union

أما كفاني صدودٌ بعد اعراض

اظن ما قد جرى من ذاك يكفيك

Have I not had enough rejection after indifference

I think what has happened should suffice you

روحي فداؤك اني والهوى راضي

باي قتل به ان كان يرضيك

My soul is yours, though I and passion are content

With any murder, if it satisfies you

أما السلو فلا يقضي به القاضي

وكيف اسلو مع الحسن الذي فيك

As for peace, no judge rules by it

And how can I have peace with the beauty in you?

الغصن مشبه قد منك نهاض

وفي محياك بدر التم يحكيك

The branch resembles you, risen from you

And in your cheek, a perfect moon describes you

وبرق ثغر حكاه عند ايماض

وجيد ريم بلا حلي يحليك

Lightning of a mouth told of you in a blink

And a flexible stem, with no adornment, beautifies you

وشعر فرع إلى الاقدام فضفاض

ومبسم ختم ياقوت على فيك

Hair is a leafy branch cascading down

And a smiling seal of ruby upon your mouth

وخال مسك بروض الخمد مرتاض

وعشر اقلام بلور باديك

A birthmark of musk in the meadow of your cheek

And ten crystal pens on your incisors

قد زرتني مرة في بعض اغراضي

ثني ولا تجعليها بيضة الديك

You visited me once for some purpose of yours

Bend, and do not make it the egg of the rooster
