قف يا زمان معي بالله وانتحب

واهتف لدمعك من عينيك ينسكب

Stop, O time, for God's sake and lament

And cry for your tears to flow

قف يا زمان ولا تعجب فليس بما

أقوله لك ما يدعو إلى العجب

Stop, O time, do not wonder, for it is not what

I say to you that calls for wonder

ذكراك يا مرشدي مرت ودعوتنا

بالنصر ترفل في ثوابها القشب

Remembering you, my guide, has passed and our prayers

In its reward the dry grass luxuriates

إن كنت يا مرشدي فارقتنا جسدا

ازهار نقص فإن عنا قط لم تغب

If you, my guide, have left us physically

Missing you, we never completely left

عشرون عاما بها يا خير داعية

قد صغت للمشرق تاج العز من ذهب

Twenty years, O best preacher

You have listened to the east, crown of gold glory

دعوت للحق والأيام شاهدة

ما كنت تنشد غير الحق من طلب

You called for truth and the days bear witness

You sought nothing but the truth

فما قصدت بما تدعو لمنفعة

ولا دعوت إلى جاه ولا نشب

So you did not seek for self benefit

Nor called for status or ambition

بل كنت ترجو من الباري مثوبته

والأجر عن كل ما قدمت من تعب

But you hoped for reward from the Creator

And recompense for all the toil you offered

يا منقذ الشرق من خطب ألم به

لولاك كاد يكون الشرق في لهب

O savior of the East from feared disasters

Without you, the East would have burned in flames

دعوت والناس أخلاط منوعة

ما بين ذي جشع منهم وذي سغب

You called and people are mixed kinds

Among them the greedy and the foolish

فما سئمت لما لاقيت من عنت

ولا وهنت أمام الدهر النوب

Yet you did not tire from the adversity you faced

Nor wavered before the blows of time

يا مرشد الناس نحو الجد في زمن

به نفوس الورى مالت إلى اللعب

O people's guide to seriousness in an age

In which souls inclined towards play

يا باعث النهضة الكبرى وقائدها

بعثت روح التقى والعلم والأدب

O pioneer and leader of the great awakening

You revived the spirit of piety, knowledge and literature

في نفس جيل نأى عن كل مكرمة

عار عن الصدق ميال إلى الكذب

In the soul of a generation that shunned all favors

Devoid of truthfulness, inclined to lies

لم يدر ما الدين من جهل ومن سفه

وإن دعاه دعاة الخير لم يجب

It did not know, out of ignorance and folly

What religion was, though called by good advocates

كأنه عن نداء الله في صمم

حتى اشتكى الصم شعبان إلى رجب

As if deaf towards God's call

Until Sha'ban complained to Rajab

بعثت في الشرق روح العز ثانية

والعز لم يأت عفوا دونما سبب

You revived the spirit of glory in the East anew

And glory does not come freely without cause

فكنت للشرق حقا قطب نهضته

وهل تدور الرحى إلا على القطب

So you were truly the pillar of its awakening

Does the mill wheel spin except around the pivot?

يا قوم هذي فلسطين تحدثنا

حديث صدق الاخوان ذا عجب

O people, here is Palestine speaking to us

A true conversation of brothers, so wondrous

بالله يا ثبة الاخوان كيف غدا

فيك اليهود أمام الخيرة النجب

By God, O steadfast brothers, how have

The Jews overpowered the best and most virtuous?

يا قوم عشرون في الميدان ما وهنوا

ولا استكانوا أمام الجحفل اللجب

O people, twenty in the battlefield did not waiver

Nor succumb before the massive armies

يا قول عشرون جنديا قد اقتحموا

معسكر الكفر حتى صاح واحربي

O people, twenty soldiers stormed

The enemy camp until it screamed and took up arms

والله أكبر في الميدان تدفعهم

للانتصارات في ركض وفي خبب

God is Great was proclaimed in the battlefield

Propelling them to victories in marches and raids

لسان حال فلسطين يقول لنا

لله ما فعل الاخوان في النقب

The state of Palestine says to us

See what the brothers have done in the Negev

ساروا لتطهير بيت الله ثانية

كما إليه سرى من قبل خير نبي

They marched to purify God's House anew

As the best Prophet marched there before

فمنبر المسجد الأقصى

يهيب بهموظنه في جنود الله لم يخب

So the pulpit of Al-Aqsa Mosque

Appeals to them, sure of God's soldiers, undefeated

يا قوم عشرون في الميدان وحدهم

والخصم منسحب في إثر منسحب

O people, twenty alone in the battlefield

The opponent retreated in the wake of retreaters

سئلت في صغر كالناس مسألة

عن خير ما تتمناه من الأرب

When young I was asked like all people

What is the best you wish for in life?

وكنت بين رفاق قال أكثرهم

إني لأطمع في عال من الرتب

Most of my peers said

They aspire for high office and position

فكان همك إحياء الشريعة من

نوم فكنت أخا قلب وأنت صبي

But your concern was to revive Sharia

So you were a brother in heart though a child

ورحت تدعوا لما يدعو الرسول له

فكنت حقا إمام العجم والعرب

You called for what the Messenger called for

Thus you were truly the Imam of Arabs and non-Arabs

ظنوا بقتلك يخبو نور دعوتنا

فيستريحون هذا ظن كل غبي

They thought by killing you, the light of our call would be extinguished

And they would rest, this is the assumption of every fool

كم من أبي جهل لاقي الموت مندحرا

أمام دعوتنا كم من أبي لهب

How many Abu Jahls met death vanquished

Before our call - how many Abu Lahabs

أيحسبون بأن الله تاركهم

كما يشاؤون في لهو وفي طرب

Do they reckon that God will leave them

To revel and play as they desire?

من يبغ إطفاء نور الله به نقص

حتف ويرم به الجبار في اللهب

Whoever tries to extinguish God's light, only diminishes

And the Almighty hurls him into flames

وما هزيمة فاروق بخافية

عنا وكيف غدا في شر منقلب

The defeat of Pharaoh at the hands of Moses is not

Hidden from us - how he met an evil end

هذا حمى الله يا باغي وحرمته

والله يرقب من يعصيه عن كثب

This is God's protection, O aggressor, and His sanctity

God watches closely those who disobey Him

اعد ربك نارا لا مثيل لها

لكل دان له بالسوء مقترب

Prepare, your Lord has prepared a fire like no other

For all those approaching evil against Him
