علماء دينك يا محمد قد لهو
بالدين حتى ضاعت الأحكام
The scholars of your religion, O Muhammad, have trifled
The scholars of your religion, O Muhammad, have indulged
With religion until its rulings were lost.
In religion until the laws were lost
تركوا التفكر في أمور فلاحهم
فكأنهم بجمودهم أصنام
They abandoned reflection on matters of their salvation,
They abandoned thinking about what would make them prosper
So, in their rigidity, they are like idols.
As if their stagnation made them idols
لا ينطقون الحق في بلد به
من دون ربك تعبد الحكام
They do not speak the truth in a land where
They do not speak the truth in a country that
Rulers are worshipped instead of your Lord.
Worships rulers other than your Lord
طافوا بباب أولي الامارة مثلما
طافت بباب كناسها الآرام
They circled the door of those in power, just as
They circled the doors of the rulers just as
The gazelles circled the entrance to their lair.
The pagans circled the idol’s shrine
تركوا المعالي قاعدين ودونهم
نحو المعالي يركض الحاخام
They abandoned the heights, sitting idle, while beneath them
They remained seated below supreme values
The rabbi runs toward the heights.
While the rabbi races towards the supreme values
البائعون فلاحهم بدارهم
يا ويحهم خدعتهم الأوهام
Those who sell their salvation for their home—
They sold their salvation for their homes
Alas for them! Illusions have deceived them.
Oh pity them, illusions deceived them
