1. نَعَبَ الغُرابُ وَلَيتَهُ لَم يَنعَبِ

    بِالبَينِ مِن سَلمى وَأُمِّ الحَوشَبِ

    The crow croaked, would that it had not croaked

    By the desolation of Salma and Umm Al-Hawshab

  2. لَيتَ الغُراب رَمى حَماطَةَ قَلبِهِ

    عَمرٌو بِأَسهُمِهِ الَّتي لَم تُغلَبِ

    Would that the crow had cast the contents of its heart

    Like 'Amr with his arrows that were never defeated
