1. تذكرت والذكرى تهيج البواكيا

    وتظهر مكنوناً من الحزن ثاويا

    I remembered, and memory stirs grief,

    And reveals hidden sorrows lying dormant.

  2. معاهد كانت بالهدى مستنيرة

    وبالعلم يزهو ربع تلك الروابيا

    There were covenants that were illuminated by guidance,

    And the quarters of those meadows shone with knowledge.

  3. وأراضيها بالعلم والدين قد زهت

    وأطواد شرع الله فيها رواسيا

    Their lands shone with knowledge and faith,

    And the pillars of God's Law stood firm within them.

  4. وقد أينعت منها الثمار فمن يرد

    جناها ينلها والقطوف دوانيا

    Ripe fruits burgeoned there, so whoever desires

    Its harvest can attain it, with clusters hanging ready.

  5. وأنهارها للواردين شريعة

    مناهلها كالشهد فعم صوافيا

    Its rivers are a sacred path for those who come,

    Its springs are like honey, abounding freely.

  6. وقد غردت أطيارها برياضها

    يرجعن ألحان الغواني تهانيا

    Its birds sang in its gardens,

    Echoing the melodies of love and joy.

  7. وكنا على هذا إزماناً بغبطة

    وأنوارُ هذا الدين تعلو سواميا

    We lived in bliss for an age,

    And the lights of this faith ascended the summits.

  8. فما كان إلاَّ برهةً ثم أطبقت

    علينا بأنواع الهموم الروازيا

    But it was only a fleeting moment, then

    All kinds of sorrows enveloped us.

  9. فكنا أحاديثاً كأخبار من مضى

    ونسمع عنها في القرون الخواليا

    We became like tales of those long passed,

    That we hear of in later generations.

  10. لعرمي لأن كانت أصيبت قلوبنا

    وأوجعها فقدان تلك المعاليا

    My soul was stricken with sorrow

    And grieved at the loss of that sublimity.

  11. لقد زادت البلوى اضطراماً وحرقة

    فحق لنا إهراق دمع المآقيا

    Afflictions grew more intense and searing -

    Rightfully we shed tears of anguish!

  12. فقد أظلمت أرجاء نجد وأطفئت

    مصابيح داجيها لخطب وداهيا

    The quarters of Najd grew dark, its lamps

    Extinguished by disasters and calamities.

  13. لموت إمام الدين والعلم والتقى

    مذيق العدى كاسات سم الأقاليا

    At the death of the Imam of faith, knowledge, and piety -

    He who sipped the bitter cups of tribulation.

  14. فعبد اللطيف الحبر أوحد عصره

    إمام هدى قد كان الله داعيا

    Abdul Latif, the eminent scholar, peerless in his time -

    An Imam guiding to truth, called by God.

  15. لقد كان فخراً للأنام وحجة

    وثقلاً على الأعداء عضباً يمانيا

    He was truly the pride of mankind and proof -

    A burden on enemies, wrathful and resolute.

  16. إمامًا سمى مجداً إلى المجد وارتقى

    وحل رواق المجد إذ كان عاليا

    An Imam named Glory ascended to glory -

    He reached the pinnacle when he rose high.

  17. تصدى لرد المنكرات وهدما

    بنته عداة الدين من كان طاغيا

    He strove to counter wrongs and raze

    What the enemies of faith had unjustly built.

  18. فأضحت به السمحاء يبسم ثغرها

    ويحمي حماها من شرور الأعاديا

    Thus the righteous smiled again, his visage lit,

    Protecting their protector from evil foes.

  19. حياه إله العرش في العلم والنهى

    بما فاق أبناء الزمان تساميا

    May God prolong his life of knowledge and guidance -

    Surpassing all people of the age in loftiness!

  20. وقد جد في ذات الإله بجهده

    ولم يأل في رأب والمناهيا

    He strove sincerely for God's cause, unflagging,

    Mending rifts, forbidding transgressions.

  21. ولما نمى الركبان أخبار موته

    وأصبح ناعي الدين فينا مناديا

    When news of his death reached the travelers,

    Our faith had a mourner and crier among us.

  22. رثيناه جبراً للقلوب لما بها

    وحل بها من موجعات التآسيا

    We eulogized him, comforting our hearts

    Afflicted with sorrows and bereavement.

  23. لشمس الهدى بدر الدجى علم الهدى

    وغيظ الي فاليبك من كان باكيا

    He was the sun of guidance, the full moon of faith,

    The star of truth - let not the weeping mourn him!

  24. لئن ظهرت منا عليه كآبةٌ

    وحل بنا خطبٌ من الرزء شاجيا

    If grief has appeared in us for him,

    And sorrows have befallen us, long and harsh -

  25. فقد كسفت للدين شمس منيرة

    يضيء سناها للورى متساميا

    It is for a brilliant sun of faith eclipsed,

    Whose radiant years illuminated the world's summit.

  26. سقى الله رمساً حل وابل الرضى

    وهطال سحب لعفو من كان غاديا

    May God water his grave, and send down

    Floods of contentment and pardon on the sinful.

  27. ولازال إحسان الإله وبره

    على قبره ذي ديمة ثم هاميا

    May the special favor and mercy of God

    Rest forever on his grave and surround it.

  28. وأسكنه الفردوس فضلاً ورحمةً

    والحقه بالصالحين المهاديا

    Admit him, by grace, to Paradise,

    And gather him with the righteous guides.

  29. عليه تحيات السلام وإن نيء

    وأحضى دفيناً في المقابر ثاويا

    Greetings of peace to him, though he rests

    Buried in the graveyard, dormant forever!

  30. يفوق عبير المسك عرف عبيرها

    ويبهر ضوء الشمس أزكى سلاميا

    The scent of musk is fainter than his fragrance,

    And the sun's brightest glow dimmer than his light.

  31. فيا معشر الإخوان صبراً فإنما

    مضى لسبيل كلنا فيه ماضيا

    So, my brethren, have patience, for he has departed

    Down the path we all must tread, and gone ahead.

  32. فإن أفل البدر الفريد وأصبحت

    ربوع ذوي الإسلام منه خواتليا

    Though the peerless full moon has set, and gloom

    Enshrouds the abodes of Muslims like an evening veil,

  33. فقد شاد أعلام الشريعة واقتفى

    بآثار آباء كرام المساعيا

    He established the emblems of Divine Law, and followed

    In the tracks of noble forebears, energetic and bold.

  34. هموا جدد والإسلام بعد اندراسه

    وأحيوا من الأعلام ما كان خافيا

    Strive and revive Islam after its decline!

    Restore the faded symbols to how they were before.

  35. وكم لهمو من منحة وفضيلة

    يقصر عن تعدادهن نظاميا

    Countless are their virtues and merits -

    Too numerous for my verse to recount in full.

  36. مناقبهم لا يحصها النظم عدةً

    وليس يواريها غطاء المعاديا

    Their glories cannot be measured in poetry -

    No covering of an enemy can conceal them.

  37. فيا رب جد بالفضل تكرماً

    وبالعفو عنهم يا مجيب المناديا

    O Lord, show further kindness and grace,

    And pardon them, O Responder to supplication!

  38. وابق لهم سادة يقتدى بهم

    إلى الخير يا من ليس عنا بلاهيا

    Grant them noble leaders to emulate

    Towards goodness - You Who are not heedless of us!

  39. ونسئلك اللهم ستر عيوبنا

    ومحو الذنوب المثقلات الشواجيا

    God, we ask You to veil our faults,

    And erase our heavy sins.

  40. فعفوك مأمول لكل مؤمل

    وسترك مسدول على الخلق ضافيا

    Your pardon is hoped for by all who hope,

    Your veil universally covers creation.

  41. وأحسن ما يحلو القريض بختمه

    صلاةً وتسليماً على خير هاديا

    The best conclusion for a poem is prayer and peace

    Upon the best guide for all humanity,

  42. وأصحابه والآل ما ماض بارق

    وما انهل صوب المدجنات الغواديا

    And his companions - may lightening continue

    To flash its radiance over their resting places.
