A nightingale in the garden, inspired by revelation
His sweet eloquence stirs hearts
With a good morning for life, he welcomes the dawn
With beautiful singing and melody
Raised in bliss, unaware of misery
Never has hardship touched his paradise
Lost in magic, beauty - he quenches his soul
With his nectar and wine
He sings of love, in his lofty verse and poetry
Most moving to all who hear his tenderness
Time was heedless of him for a while, yet time
Is mean in its overflowing tyranny
It left no happiness pure, but stirred up
Muddiness in the clearest water after purity
Illness tore at his chest, and he, though strong
Did not complain of the woes of his time
Sickness crept between his ribs like a snake
Injecting poison in his body
So he faded in youth, and sorrow weakened him
His heart fluttered in anxiety
He wept his sorrows, and made others weep,
The forlorn moved by his melodies
His heart poured out the myriad feelings in it
And his deepest pains
Then he fell silent, left his flute and poetry
And youth left in its blossoming
He left sorrow to friends and family
And his closest companions
They had no consolation but sincere tears
And a melody forged from his sorrows
Poetry and youth mourned, and misfortune shook
The throne of verse to its foundations
Where are those who shook platforms proudly
At the sound of his eloquence?
A weaving more gentle than the myrtle's scent
Like a rose in its garden
In the margins, whispers of lovers
Magic of love and honor in his art
Each lover sees in his rhymes
Secrets from his soul laid bare
He whose greatness increased when times grew hard
Enemy of villains in our lands
Sleep peacefully Abu Ja'far after you exhausted
The art of speech in its creation
And tasted bliss, and then misery
And endured woe in all its forms
Do you see the debris of youth, picturned by illness
Or love in the flames of its fires?
And gave rest to the heart from the tyrant time
Its pain and injustice
Time's sickle reaps a people wholly
The mighty and the weak
How many a boat has carried the living
To death as it sails on
Say, oh brother of verse, what is death and what rebirth?
What is eternity in wondrous heavens?
What is mankind's fate, dwelling in the grave
Dirt piled on his coffin?
A secret the mind cannot unlock
Through the ages of time
Myths comfort man somewhat
Against the grip of oblivion on his being
We grieved for the poet's death in his prime
Snatched in full blossom
And came, our eyes filled with tears
To console poetry in its bereavement
Who among us can offer solace
For the calamity to eloquence in its circle?
