No matter how events twist and turn
Victory is destined for those who persevere
And no matter how long the night of calamities lasts
It will clear up, alleviating sorrow and distress
So if you've drunk deep of its misfortunes
Have patience - others before you have learned
O my homeland, grief burst from my core, from my passion
And my heart broke from all it endured
In every region, a wound oozing blood
Crying out - if only the very rocks could hear!
This is Palestine - how many disasters
Have battered its people, leaving them destroyed by an unjust tyrant
They've replaced its safety with injustice, its bliss with misery
Its glory with humiliation - yet on they rushed undeterred
Sorrows come to accustom me to them
Whether I remember or how they accustomed me to remembering
I stood in the four directions, recalling the past
Tears pouring from my eyes like rain
I asked the holy sanctuary sorrowfully
Where are the invaders, and where are victory and triumph?
I stood remembering its past, while my heart
Brimmed with sadness, overwhelming grief
Where are those who built their kingdom on justice?
They were steadfast, they did not break their word or flee
And where is their might before which the world bowed down?
Where are the accounts and legends told?
The scrolls of glory were written by Arab fingers
Yet the days and years now erode their lines
The Sons of Zion schemed every evil
And secretly conspired for betrayal and deceit
Then came forward, buttressing the nations, a mercenary
Devoid of conscience, a broker, a profiteer
And from the dregs of the earth came a rabble
Who are misery itself for this world and its people
Some came dreaming of a kingdom
Others were misers concerned only with money
Some were villains and imposters tempted
By our hesitation, failure, and disgrace
They are the scum of nations tossed around
By the tides of time - how lost they were and corrupt!
Do not be fooled by their delusions
Or impressed with what they built and their works
They will vanish like mirages in the wasteland
Do not be fooled by what they built and their works
Yesterday the hordes of the West gathered
Not one jackal or vulture remained in their lands
From every crevice they came in the name of the Cross
Though they had renounced it, God, and religion
Driven by ravenous greed and roused
To defeat by passions aflame like fire
So each famished, predatory wolf
Came in packs, followed by more packs
Jesus was no kinsman of war, thirsting
For bloodshed - it was not his way
The law he brought down was for love
That was his inscribed, precious verse
He summoned his nation to kindness and charity
But alas, man was deaf to his call
So the Aqsa mosque cried out for champions
From every valiant warrior ready for danger
The sons of Arabism and Islam were roused
To jihad, for they had no doubts
A people who when called upon, responded without fear
They sacrificed themselves for God and took the lead
Saladin led the ranks with great effort
And beneath his banner were might and triumph
He marched on crushing the invading army victoriously
As the earth, crowns, and thrones acclaimed him
He drove back the invaders, defeated, on their heels
Scattered and unprotected by any precautions
Until he restored glory and honor to the nations
A towering figure whose memory does not fade
O my people where is Saladin to break through?
And where is Hattin? Do we know of their like?
Will history repeat their original endeavor
That we might build upon the ruins of those who passed?
We will revive it as a raging, stormy wind
To banish these villains, leaving no trace
And O my country, we will defeat every invader
Your brilliant epoch will live again
Your eternal mountains - if tyrants dare trespass
They will rise against injustice, aflame with rage
The blood of the youth scents its corners
How many minds have they twisted, how much blood spilled
How many martyrs unjustly murdered in its precincts
How many exiles long for its shelter from afar
They rose up and vowed themselves to truth
And the path of glory - they did not fail their vow
They paid the ultimate price, and who pays more dearly
Than he who prevails through steadfast perseverance?
