1. أعاد نيسان للآكام و الشجر

    ما بدّدته شهور البرد و المطر

    April restored to the hills and trees

    What the months of cold and rain had dispersed

  2. و أبدت الأرض ما كانت تخبئه

    مخافة الريح و الأنواء من صُوَر

    And the earth revealed what it had been hiding

    Fearing the wind and the weather from relics

  3. كأنها غادة تنضو غلائلها

    في موضع عن عيون الناس مستتر

    As if it were a maiden unveiling her tresses

    In a place hidden from people's eyes

  4. فليس يقلقها إبراز فتنتها

    و لا تلوذ بستر خشية النظر

    So it is not disturbed by revealing its beauty

    Nor takes cover fearing any glance

  5. ما أروع الجبل العملاق تغمره

    وداعة و هو في جلبابه النضر

    How magnificent is the giant mountain flooded

    With serenity while wearing its vibrant dress

  6. فليس للرعد قصف في مناكبه

    وليس للثلج في فوديه من أًثر

    For thunder has no bombardment on its shoulders

    And snow leaves no trace in its valleys

  7. تسلق الزهر فيه كل رابية

    و بثّ ألوانه في كل منحدر

    Flowers climb it, every hillside

    And scatter their colors on every incline

  8. و حام سرب فراشات ملوّنة

    ثملن من أرَج في الجوّّ منتشر

    And a flock of colorful butterflies swarmed

    Intoxicated by the fragrance dispersed in the air

  9. وأقبلت نسمات الصبح حاملة ً

    رَف الحقول و بُقيا من ندى السَحَر

    And the morning breezes arrived carrying

    The meadow's calm and remains of the dawn's charm

  10. تسري فتبعث فينا من طراوتها

    ما تبعث الراح في الأبدان من خدَر

    Flowing, infusing in us from their freshness

    What the soul infuses in dormant bodies from numbness

  11. و في السهول يمد التين أذرعه

    كأنّما يعد الزُرّاعَ بالثمر

    And in the plains, the fig extends its arms

    As if preparing the farmers for the fruit

  12. و للمياه على الحصباء ثرثرة

    ألذُّ في السمع من تغريدة الوتر

    And the water murmurs over the pebbles

    More pleasing to the ear than the melody of a lute

  13. تجيء هازجة ًطوراً ، وهامسة ً

    طوراً كما يهمس العشاق في حذر

    Coming playfully at times, and whispering

    At others, as lovers whisper in caution

  14. هو الربيع مشى في الأرض ينعشها

    كالروح تبعث في أوصال محتضر

    It is spring walking on earth enlivening it

    Like the soul reviving the limbs of one dying

  15. أعاد لين صباها بعدما يبست

    واستسلمت لخمول الشيب و الكبر

    Restoring its soft youth after it dried up

    And surrendered to the lethargy of old age

  16. و زانها بضروب ٍمن قلائده

    و رشّ ألوانه حتى على الحجر

    Adorning it with all kinds of necklaces

    And sprinkling its colors even on stone

  17. و لم يدع بقعة إلا و مرّ بها

    مخلفاً نفحة من ذيله العطر

    Leaving no spot without passing by it

    Leaving behind a trace of its fragrant tail

  18. فيا لها جنة ًما كان أروعها

    بين الفرادديس ، لولا غفلة ُ البشر

    What a paradise it would be, the finest

    Among the heavens, were it not for man's neglect

  19. نهارها جولة للطرف ذاهلة

    وليلها موعد للحبّ و السمر

    Its days are for the wandering eyes’ delight

    And its nights for love and conversation

  20. لكنّ أًصحابها لا يحفلون بها

    كأنهم جُرّدوا من نعمة البصر!

    But its people do not care for it

    As if devoid of the blessing of sight

  21. من حولهم عالمٌ جازت مفاتنه

    حدّ الخيال ، وهم قتلى من الضجر!

    Around them, a world whose beauty

    Transcends imagination, yet they are dead from boredom

  22. نهر الحياة قريب من مراشفهم

    و هم ظِماءٌ بلا ورد ولا صدر

    The river of life is near their pillows

    Yet they are thirsty without roses or friends

  23. تصدّهم عنه أعراف مقدسة

    تغلّ أرواحهم من سا لف العُصُر

    They are barred from it by sacred customs

    That shackle their souls to past ages

  24. فمتعة الروح تنبو عن مداركهم

    و الحبّ جرمٌ لديهم غير مغتفر

    So the joy of the spirit is beyond their perceptions

    And love to them is an unforgivable sin

  25. ولا يلامس في وجدانهم وتراً

    همس النسم و سحر الليل و القمر

    And nothing touches a chord in their hearts

    The whispering breeze, the magic of night and moon

  26. كأنّ سوراً خفيّاً قد أحاط بهم

    و لفهم بظلام غير منحسر

    As if an invisible wall surrounds them

    And wraps them in unrelenting darkness

  27. فهم يدورون كالثيران موثقة ً

    إلى النواعير حتى آخرالعمر

    So they revolve like oxen fettered

    To waterwheels until the end of their lives
