1. هُمُ هَدَموا الهاماتِ بَعدَ اِعتِدالِها

    بِصَحنِ نَهاوَندَ الَّتي قَد أَمَرَّتِ

    They demolished the citadels after their glory

    With the basin of Nahavand which had become bitter

  2. بِكُلِّ قَناةٍ لَدنَةٍ بِرمِيَّةٍ

    إِذا أُكرِهَت لَم تَنثني وَاِستَمَرَّتِ

    With every soft, flowing, gushing channel

    If forced, it would not bend, but went on

  3. وَأَبيَضَ مِن ماءِ الحَديدِ مُهَنَّدٍ

    وَصَفراءَ مِن نَبعٍ إِذا هِيَ رَنَّتِ

    Whiter than tempered steel water

    More yellow than a spring when it sounds
