I used to hate living in a stone house,
And living in a land with walls.
How I wish to drown in the highest sea, and dwell there,
With all its water and timber!
I refused to gaze at the night star while sitting,
Until the morn, with sparrows at my door.
Had I no fear of my Lord punishing me,
I would have cursed Ibn Hayyan, that old man!
