Cease weeping, every tearful eye!
Enough of what avails you nothing—enough!
Leave wailing, and abandon the grief that
you display as a mourner grieving for your master—
that blessed one, endowed with praiseworthy virtues and piety,
with excellence and righteousness, precious and pure.
Be assured: God has granted his soul delight
in glorious bliss surpassing all comprehension.
Rejoice, O See: you have attained your desire
in a successor who came to you after him.
Robe yourself in mantles of gladness, and cast off
the garment of mourning, for your Lord has gladdened you.
The eastern star has risen, ascending,
and its lights have shimmered in your sky.
Your bridegroom, O Church of God, has appeared
within you, adorning your bridal chamber and sanctuary.
And al-Masjidi—how, upon your pulpit, was illumined
by his light your Antiochian See!
And joy is yours in the little singing nightingale who
captivated all creation with his singing in praise of you.
For his echo is the magnet of our souls, which
has drawn so many of your children together within it!
So glad tidings are yours, O assemblies of our people,
in the best of shepherds, a just one who tends you.
