وذوى الـــــوردُ وانتـــــثرْ

Vineyards lose their vibrant green

Roses wither and astray

كـنتِ لـي أنـتِ كوكبًـا مُخْمَليّ الـ

ـلمسِ ينثـالُ نبْـعَ عطْـرٍ وضـوءِ

You were a star, soft to the touch

Exuding scents and luminous glow

كـان لـي مـن بريقِ عينيكِ لونُ الـ

ـقَمَـرِ اللَّـدْنِ فـي ليـالي الـدِّفْءِ

Your eyes held the mellow moonlight

On nights warm and aglow

كــان وحْـيي حكايـةً منـكِ فيهـا

مـن شَـذى الـورد ألفُ شيءٍ وشيء

Your whispers spelled a tale for me

Of a thousand fragrances and more

كـنتِ لـي أنـتِ يـا بنفسـجتي فجـ

ــرَ جَمَـالٍ مُطَلْسَـمٍ غـيرِ مَـرْئي

My purple iris, you were the unseen

Beauty of dawn forevermore

وإذا أطفــــــأ الزَّمَــــــانْ

كــــلّ حــــبٍّ حملتُــــهُ

And if time should quench

Every love I have known

وَطَــــوتْ ظُلمـــة المكـــانْ

كــــلّ ضــــوءٍ شـــربتُهُ

Darkness shrouds all around

Light I have sown

كـان لـي مـن صفـاءِ وجهكِ بَدْءٌ

لأغــاني حُــبٍّ وحــبٍّ وحُـبّ

The radiance of your face inspired

Songs of passion and desire

ومــن الكــوكبينِ عَيْنَيْـكِ تنشـقُّ

لعمـــري آثـــارُ ألْفَـــيْ دَرْبِ

Twin stars blinked in your eyes

Lighting my paths of fire

مـن بـريقِ الجـبينِ مـن مَلْمَس الخدّ

الحــريريّ مــن سَــوَادِ الهُـدْبِ

Gleam of brow, silk of cheek

Raven hair in graceful peaks

معـبَرٌ للجَمـالِ مـن شـاطئِ المجـ

ـهـولِ يُرْسـي ائتلاقُـهُ عنـد قَلْبـي

Portraying nameless beauty

At my heart it wreaks
