I wandered alone among the palaces for a long time

    Asking passersby where is happiness?

Yet the allure of palaces is but a thin veil

Behind it lurks sorrow and gloom

In palaces I found only lost hearts

    And a grieving world

Just people to whom days are narrow like

    The wretched and hungry

Death does not pardon them, they are sad, silent and crying

How many huts behind the palaces

Weep and complain of the cruelty of fate

How many hearts wish to trade the palace

For a hut by the bank of a stream

Even if they escaped hunger and poverty

And deprivation did not prey on them

They have long felt the hunger of the soul

    And sorrow has enslaved them

Even if they spend their days amidst

    Colorful, beautiful silk

Tomorrow centuries will pass while they are

Dead on thorns, pebbles and dust

If their palaces have lamps that turn

    Darkness into light

Tomorrow the light will fade and remain

The darkness of night morning and evening

Palaces cannot save one from the blindness of sorrow

    When it haunts hearts

How many wealthy spend their lives miserable

Drowning in their moaning and crying

All the riches in this existence

    Cannot relieve misery

    All those treasures have never

Immersed a wealthy man in bliss

Oh my path, night has filled me, palaces no longer

    Appeal to my eyes

I found no glimpse of happiness in them

I found nothing but the shadow of despair and sadness
