Unfurl your sails, O ship, and ride the winds,
Cleaving through the waters of this life,
Then make landfall upon the shore of art
Amidst verses and songs.
May we find upon that shore
The shade of longed-for happiness,
For its nectar they have sipped
And wrought into poetry and song.
Long have they painted in their melodies
What the zeal of art has summoned,
Long have they spoken of rosy hopes
And sung of light and color.
Let us stand with them, then, and observe
The course of their days, and how they pass—
Do you see night and tears and grief?
Or is it dawn, laughter and good tidings?
