شهيد البلاد ألا تسمعُ

وهل غبت عنا ولا ترجعُ

O martyr of the country, can you hear?

Have you been absent from us, never to return?

عزيز علينا اخا المكرمات

فراقك والنأي والمصرع

Dear to us, O brother of generosity

Your absence, remoteness, and death

ولكني متى صاح حمّ القضاء

وحل البلاء فما نصنع

But when the decree of fate cries out

And tribulation befalls, what can we do?

دموع الوفاء علامَ النضوب

فسحي ثكلتك يا أدمع

Tears of loyalty, why do you dry up?

So grieve for your bereavement, O tears

ويا قلب ناجِ الزعيم الشهيد

وضمي رفاتك يا أضلع

And O heart, confide in the martyred leader

And gather his remains, O ribs

سعيد تنوح عليك السيوف

وتوحي إلى النفس ما يفجع

Saeed, the swords mourn you

And suggest to the soul what grieves

وتذكرك الصافنات الجياد

ويندبك القاع والبلقع

And the sheathed blades remember you

And the plains and horses mourn you

وتبكي عليك نجوم السماء

وترنو إليك ولا تسطع

And the stars of the sky weep for you

And yearn for you but do not shine

ويبكي عليك الوفاء الجميل

وقلبي عليك أخي موجع

And loyal love weeps for you

And my heart aches for you, my brother

سعيد نناجيك في لهفة

وندعو سعيد فهل تسمع

Saeed, we confide in you ardently

And call on Saeed, can you hear?

أخا العرب هذي شؤون الحياة

نروح ونغدو ولا نرجع

O brother of the Arabs, such is the life

We go and return, and do not come back

وان هي الا خفقة في السراج

سيلفظها ثم لا يسطع

It is but a flicker in the lamp

It will expire, then not shine again

قضيت حياتك حي الضمير

تقول الصراح ولا تفزع

You spent your life true to conscience

Speaking honestly, never afraid

تجاهد في اللَه حقّ الجهاد

وتسدي بلادك ما ينفع

You struggled in God’s cause sincerely

Benefiting your country as you could

وقومك يا صاح لي يعرفو

كَ ولم ينظروك ولم يسمعوا

And your people, O companion, may they know you

They did not look at or listen to you

فعشت غريباً تعدّ الليالي

وترقب أمراً به تطلع

So you lived a stranger, counting the nights

Waiting for a breakthrough to emerge

إلى ان دعاك نفير الجهاد

فلبيت تسعى ولا تجزع

Until the call to jihad stirred you

And you responded without hesitation or fear

وجئت لتدفع صرف الزمان

فغالك ما لا اخي يدفع

You came to repel the tide of time

But, my brother, what can repel destiny?

ومت شهيداً تضم السيوف

رفاتك والتنك والمدفع

You died a martyr, gathered by the swords

Your remains, body, and weapons

ومت عظيماً يناجي الخلود

خيالك والبيد والاربع

You died great, with immortality confiding

In your imagination, eternity, and principles

ولما قضيت بكاك الصحاب

وأولوك عطفاً لهم يشفع

And when your comrades fulfilled your right

Pleading for you, interceding on your behalf

وهذي سعادك ملء القلوب

تحفّ بها العين والمسمع

This is your happiness, filling hearts

Captivating eyes and ears

وشيمة قيومك نسيان من

يعيش وذكر الذي يصرع

And your steadfast qualities, forgetting

Those who live, remembering those who die

سنذكر أعمالك الخالدات

ونقفو خطاك ولا نفزع

We will recall your eternal deeds

And follow your path, never afraid
