1. حنتْ إلى القدس الشريف نواظري

    فمتى سيسعف باللقاء زماني؟

    My eyes long for Jerusalem the noble,

    When will time allow me to meet her?

  2. هيهات تغفو مقلتي والقدس

    يأسرها كيان لم يكن بكيان

    Alas, my eyelids cannot rest while Jerusalem

    Is held captive by an unjust entity.

  3. يحلو منامي..مستحيلٌ.. كيف يحـ

    ـلو نوم من في لوعة الحرمان

    How can my sleep be sweet...impossible...how can

    The sleep of one tormented by deprivation be sweet?

  4. حبي لها ما احتاج يوما للدليـ

    ـلِ و هل أنا في حاجة لبيان؟

    My love for it never needed proof,

    And do I need to explain myself?

  5. أنا لست بدعا في الهوى أبدا فما

    كانت لصبٍّ في هواه يدان

    I'm not the first to fall in love, so why

    Should a lover's passion be condemned?

  6. أعروبتي هيَّا لفك إسارِها

    لا تتركوها في يد القرصان

    My Arab soul, come, break its shackles!

    Do not leave it in the hands of tyrants.

  7. عاثت بنو صهيون مفسدةً بها

    حلّتْ عليهم لعنة الديَّانِ

    The Zionists have corrupted it,

    May the Judge's curse be upon them.

  8. هدموا المساجدَ فهْي فوق ركامها

    يلهو و يمرح ناعبُ الغربان

    They destroyed the mosques, and over the rubble

    Crows play and frolic.

  9. أطفالنا قمعوا بشرطي حقو

    دٍ قلبُه قد شبَّ بالنيران

    Our children were oppressed by the police

    With hearts burning with fire.

  10. وشيوخنا ذاقوا مرارة بطشهم

    بطشٌ يفوق ضراوة الحيوان

    Our elders tasted the bitterness of their tyranny,

    A tyranny exceeding the beasts' savagery.

  11. أرض غدت قفصاً على أصحابها

    وهي الفسيحةُ رحْبةُ الميدان

    A land that has become a cage for its people,

    While it is spacious and an open plain.

  12. نادت علينا وهْيَ ترجو غوثها

    وتقول في لغة بدون لسان

    It called out for our help, and in a language

    Without tongue, asked:

  13. هل من شجاع أستجير به وهل

    في يعربٍ أحدٌ من الفرسان ؟

    Is there a brave man whose protection I can seek?

    Is there an Arab horseman among the knights?

  14. أمدينتي شُلتْ يميني إن بقي

    تِ أسيرةً مكروبة بهوان

    My city, if your right hand remains

    Captive, oppressed, and disgraced,

  15. لفداكِ أهدي ما لديَّ ولا أبا

    لي إن شقيتُ أو الحِمَامُ أتاني

    For you I pledge all I own, and I do not care

    If I am miserable or death comes upon me.

  16. وعليك لي حق متى ما غبتُ أو

    وسط الثرى للجسم كان مكاني

    You have a right over me, whenever I am absent

    Or my body lies underground.

  17. أن تذكريني خير ذكرٍإنني

    ما كنتُ يوما عنك بالمتواني

    That you remember me kindly, for I was never

    Reluctant or hesitant in my loyalty to you.

  18. ففداكِ كان شريعتي ولقاؤنا

    عن عاجلٍ حتماً غدا إيماني

    To sacrifice myself for you was my way,

    And meeting you for certain is my faith.
