ظالم نفسي فكم عنيتها
شعلا في صدرها أذكيتها
I wronged myself, so how I blamed it

كم أرجي مسعدا لي في البشر
ونجيا كما أرجى في الدهر
How I wish I had a happy companion among the people
And a savior as I hope in fate
يا من الأنجم منه تستنير
أرجعن نارك من روحي الكسير
O you from whom the stars shine
Return your fire from my broken soul
اسلبن نفسي ما أودعتها
عطلن من نورها مرآتها
Rob my soul of what you entrusted in it
Disable its mirror from its light
أو فهب لي وجه خل لبق
هو مرآة لعشق محرق
Or bestow upon me a pure cheek
It is a mirror for burning passion
يخفق الموج بموج في العباب
لا يسير الموج إلا في صحاب

رب حان آهل من شربه
راقص المجنون مجنونا به
Lord, the time of my people has come
The ecstasy of the crazed, crazed with it
أنت يا واحد لا شبه لكا
عالما أنشأته من أجلكا
You, O One, matchless
A world you created for it
وأنا مثل شقيقات الفلا
مفرد في بهرة الجمع خلا
While I am like sisters of jasmine
Singular in the splendor of the group
هب نجيا يا ولي النعمة
محرما يدرك ما في فطرتي
Grant me, O Giver of Bounty, an intimate
Who realizes what is in my nature
هب نجيا لقنا ذا جنة
ليس بالدنيا له من صلة
Grant me an intimate of that paradise
Having no ties to the life of the world
روحه أودع من أناتيه
وأرى في قلبه مرآتيه
I placed his soul from my sighs

وأسويه بطيني محكما
وأرى آزره والصنما
And I made his constitution solid
And I see his weakness and idol
