طوف العقل بدنيا العلل
قاده التوحيد شطر المنزل
The mind roams the world of suffering
Guided by Oneness halfway through the journey
أعوز المنزل هذا السابلا
زورق الفكر أضل الساحلا
I yearn for this house of the asker
The boat of thought lost the coast
في أتى الرحمن عبدا مضمر
رمز توحيد لقلب يبصر
Then the Merciful brought a concealing servant
A symbol of Oneness to a seeing heart
يبتلى التوحيد فيك العملا
فيجلى لك سرا أغفلا
Oneness is tested in you through action
Revealing a secret you had overlooked
يشرق الدين به والحكمة
ويرى الأيد به والبكنة
Religion and wisdom shine through it
And the hands and tokens are seen through it
قد تجلى حيرة للعالمين
وتجلى عملا في العاشقين
It was revealed perplexing the worlds
And revealed as deeds in lovers
يرتقى في ظله المتضع
ويصير الترب تبرا يسطع
The humble rise in its shade
And soil becomes shining goodness
يحتبى التوحيد عبدا ثابرا
فيرد العبد خلقا آخرا
Oneness hides a persevering servant
So the servant returns a different creation
فهو في الحق حثيث دائب
دمه كالبرق فيه لاهب
He is diligent and assiduous in the Truth
His blood like lightning, aflame within
ريبه يفنى ويحيا العمل
عينه في الكون يقظى تعمل
His doubt vanishes and action comes alive
His eye vigilantly works across the universe
في مقام العبد إن تثبت قدم
جرة السائل تصبح جام جم
If your step is steadfast in the station of servanthood
The jar of the asker becomes a filled cup
لا إلاه الروح في أمتنا
لا إلاه اللحن في نغمتنا
No god but the Spirit in our nation
No god but the melody in our tune
لا إلاه السر في أسرارنا
لا إلاه السمط من أفكاره
No god but the secret in our mysteries
No god but the authority of His thoughts
صار قلبا إن حواها حجر
كل قلب لم تنره مدر
It became a heart if it contained them like a stone
Every heart not enlightened by it is ruined
يتلظى الكون من زفرتها
ويضئ القلب من وقدتها
The universe smolders from its exhalation
And the heart illuminates from its kindling
وتسيل القلب ماء في الصدور
تصهر المرآة منه في الحرور
It flows as water in breasts
Melting the mirror's frost in passions
شعلة في روحنا مثل الشقيق
كل ما نمتاره منها الحريق
A flame in our spirit like torch flowers
All we sense from it is conflagration
بيض التوحيد مسود البشر
فأبو بكر أخوه وعمر
The whiteness of Oneness, the blackness of humanity
So Abu Bakr is his brother and Umar
ليس إلا القلب قرب وابتعاد
وهذه الكأس بها هاج الفؤاد
Nothing but the heart is nearness and remoteness
This cup in it stirred ecstasy
وحدة القلب قوام الأمة
أشرقت سيناء من ذي الجلوة
The oneness of the heart is the pillar of the nation
Sinai shone from the Owner of Majesty
قد هدى الأمة سبل العمل
هذه الفكر بها والأمل
He has guided the nation to the ways of action
This thought through it and hope
نزعة واحدة في قلبها
فعيار الحسن والقبح بها
One tendency in its heart
So the criterion of good and evil is through it
لا يجيد الفكر في قيثاره
دون نار الحق في أوتاره
Thought cannot excel on its zither
Without the fire of Truth in its strings
نحن في الإسلام أبناء الخليل
من أبيكم خذ إذا شئت الدليل
We in Islam are the children of Abraham
Take from your father evidence if you wish
أمم قد عبدت أوطانها
وبنت من نسب بنيانها
Nations worshipped their homelands
And built lineage into their structure
أترى الأوطان أصل الأمم
تعبد الأرض بها كالصنم
Do you see homelands as the origin of peoples?
Worshipping the land like an idol
إنما الأنساب فخره السفهاء
حكمها في الجسم والجسم هباء
Lineages, their pride is foolishness
Its rule is in the body, and the body is evanescent
ضمنا في الحق أس آخر
هو في الألباب منا مضمر
We implied in the Truth another lineage
It is in intellects implicitly understood
قد خلصنا من حدود وقيود
قلبنا في الغيب إذ نحن شهود
We have been freed from limits and shackles
Our hearts unseen as we are witnesses
ضمنا كالزهر نظم مضمر
بصر ليس يراه مبصر
We implied like flowers implicit order
A perception not seen by the perceiver
وحد الرئى لنا والفكرة
كسهام جمعتها جعبة
The Seer and thought are one for us
Like arrows gathered in a quiver
نحن فكر وخيال واحد
ورجاء ومآل واحد
We are one thought, imagination and hope
One expectation and destination
نحن من نعمائه حلف إخاء
قلبنا والروح واللفظ سواء
We are a pact of brotherhood from His blessings
Our hearts, spirit, and words the same
