عالم الأفكار ما بين الملا

Itself had awakened until it became clear

The world of ideas between utterances

ألف كون مختف في ذاتها

غيرها يثبت من إثباتها

A thousand hidden universes in its essence

Others prove its affirmation

جعلت بزر خصام بزرها

نفسها تنظر فيها غيرها

It made the seed of contention the seed itself

It sees within itself others

خلقت أضدادها من نفسها

لترى لذتها في بأسها

It created its opposites from itself

To see its pleasure in its affliction

تبتلى في نفسهاقوتها

لترى من نفسها قدرتها

It is tested in itself its strength

To see from itself its power

خدع من وهمها عين الحياه

غسلها في دمها عين الحياه

It deceived the eye of life from its illusion

It washed it in its blood the eye of life

تخرب البستان أجل الوردة

تكئر النوح لأجل النغمة

It destroys the garden for the sake of the rose

It increases weeping for the sake of the melody

لفليك واحد ألف هلال

ولحرف واحد ألف مقال

For one crescent a thousand new moons

And for one letter a thousand speeches

عذرها في سرف أو قسوة

أنها تبغي جمال الخلقة

Its excuse in extravagance or cruelty

Is that it seeks the beauty of creation

حسن شيرين لفرهاد محن

ومن المسك ردى ظبي الختن

The torment of Layla for Majnun

And from musk the stench of the goat

في فراش حرقة كالشعل

عذره في شمعه المشتعل

In the bed of embers like a flame

Its excuse is the ignited candle

ألف يوم سطرته يدها

ليجلى في سناه غدها

A thousand days it wrote with its hand

To clarify in its brightness its tomorrow

ألف إبراهيم في النار اغتدى

لسراج يرتجى من أحمدا

A thousand Abrahams raged in the fire

For a lamp hoped for from Ahmad

همها الأعمال فهي الفاعل

وهي العلة وهي القابل

Its concern is deeds for it is the doer

And it is the cause and it is the recipient

ثورة فيها وإجفال ونور

واحتراق واختفاء وظهور

Revolution in it, awe, light

And combustion, disappearance and appearance

سعة الأيام ميدان لها

والسماء النقع يعلو سبلها

The vastness of days a field for it

And the sky a wrap that rises above its paths

يدها في الطين للكون ازدهار

نومها الليل وفي الصحو النهار

Its hand in the clay for the flourishing of the universe

Its sleep is the night and in wakefulness the day

قسمت شعلتها في شرر

فرأى الأجزاء عقل المفكر

It divided its flame into embers

So the intellect of the thinker saw the parts

تخلق الأجزاء إما تنفطر

تنشئ الصحراء إما تنتشر

It creates the parts or it bursts

It originates the desert or it spreads

ثم صارت بانتشار في ملال

فاحزألت فبدت شم الجبال

Then it became weary with spreading

So it partitioned and the scent of mountains appeared

شيمة الذات التجلى لا الخفاء

وهي في الذرات بأس وضياء

The mark of the essence is manifestation not concealment

And it is in the atoms with violence and light

قوة صامتة حلف عمل

عمل اليوم لآتيها علل

A silent power pledged to action

The work of today for its tomorrows reasons

قوة الذات من الكون النواه

فعلى قدر القوى قدر الحياه

The power of the essence from the sympathetic universe

So to the extent of powers the extent of life

كلمة الذات تعيها قطرة

فإذا القطرة يوما درة

A word of the essence it inspires a drop

So if the drop one day becomes a pearl

خارت الخمر فلا شكل لها

ومن الكأس استعارت شكلها

The wine fermented so it has no shape

And from the cup it borrowed its shape

هوسها طود عن النفس فحار

فغدا صحراء تغشاها البحار

Its obsession a dune over the soul so it burned

And it became a desert inundated by seas

يعقد النور لخلق المقلة

تخفق العين بشوق الجلوة

Light knots to create the eyelash

The eye flutters with yearning for the glance

وإذا العشب نماء أضمرا

شق صدر المرج حتى يظهرا

And if the grass grew secretly

It split the breast of the meadow until it appeared

يجمع الشمع بعزم نفسه

ومن الذرات يعلى رأسه

The candle gathers with the will of itself

And from particles it raises its head

ويذيب النفس إما غفلا

فتراه دمع عين هملا

And melts the soul if it was heedless

So you see it a tear of a gloomy eye

شدت الأرض قواها فالقمر

في طواف حولها لا مستقر

The earth tightened its powers so the moon

In orbit around it has no rest

وكيان الشمس منها أكبر

فلها عين ذكاء تسحر

And the being of the sun is greater from it

For it has an eye of brilliance that captivates

وعلا الحور فهال الناظرا

وعلا الطود أبيا قاهرا

And the mountain peak astounded the onlooker

And the towering mountain haughtily dominant

وارتدى كسوة نار حاميه

اصله حبة نبت آبيه

And it wore the garment of burning protective flames

Its origin a growing seed, lofty

إن ذاتا جمعت أسر الحياه

من غدير أزخرت بحر الحياه

That an essence gathered the secrets of life

From a pond it made the sea of life
