مؤمناً بالغيب غير غافل

كارهاً كالسيل قيد الساحل

Believing in the unseen, not heedless,

Hating like a torrent the shackle of the coast,

أعل عن ذا الطين غصناً ناضراً

وصل الغائب واغز الحاضرا

Raising above this clay a fresh branch,

Reaching the absent and attacking the present,

ذلك الحاضر تفسير الغيوب

وهو مفتاح لتسخير الغيوب

That present is the interpretation of the unseen,

And it is the key to harnessing the unseen,

ما سوى الله لتسخير العمل

صدره للرمى فاقذف لا تبل

Other than God, to harness the work,

His chest is for shooting so throw, do not hesitate,

ما سوى الله تراه يخلق

لترى سهمك فيه يمرق

Other than God you see Him creating,

So you see your arrow in it flashing,

عقدة تلقاك بعد العقدة

ليرى في الحل لطف الحيلة

A knot meets you after the knot,

To see in the solution the subtlety of the tricks,

فسرن يا كم روضاً نفسكا

سخرن باطل ذي الشمس لكا

Explain O how much self garden,

Harness the falseness of the one with the sun for you,

من يسخر عالم الحس سما

ومن الذرة يخرج عالما

Whoever harnesses the world of the senses high,

And from the atom brings out a world,

كل مافي الكون من بحر وبر

لوح تعليم لأرباب النظر

Everything in the universe, land and sea,

A board of teaching for the insightful,

أيها النائم طالت غفلته

عالم الحس جفته همته

O you who sleeps, long has been your neglect,

The world of the senses has dried up his determination,

وفتح بصراً قد سُكِّرا

لا تحقر عالماً قد حُقرا

And open an eye that was shut,

Do not belittle a world that was belittled,

إنه توسيع ذات المسلم

وامتحان لصفات المسلم

It is expanding the self of the Muslim,

And a test of the attributes of the Muslim,

هو يبلوك بسيف الزمن

لترى أن دما في البدن

It tests you with the sword of time,

To see that there is blood in the body,

اضرب الصدر بقهر القوة

اختبر عظمك في ذي الصدمة

Strike the chest with subjugation of strength,

Test your bones in one with collisions,

جعل الحق الدنى للخيرين

وجلاها لعيون المؤمنين

The Truth made the lowly for the good,

And revealed them to the eyes of the believers,

هذه الدنيا طريق الظعن

هذه الدنيا محك المؤمن

This world is the path of danger,

This world is the test of the believer,

فأسرنها قبل أن تأسركا

لا تضع في جوفها جوهركا

So captivate it before it captures you,

Do not place your essence within it,

أدهم الفكر الذي يطوى الفضاء

والذي يجتاز آفاق السماء

Extinguish the mind that folds space,

And transcends the horizons of the sky,

ساقه في الكون حاجات الحياه

فهو في الأرض وفي النجم خطاه

Its needs in life took it in the universe,

So it is on earth and in the stars its steps,

يبتغى في الكون تسخير القوى

لترى فيه بأعلى مستوى

Seeking in the universe to harness the forces,

To see it at the highest level,

نائب الحق بحق آدم

حكمه في الأرض ماض حاكم

Deputy of Truth by the right of Adam,

His rule on earth is going, ruling,

لك من ضيقك منها سعة

ولأعمالك فيها فسحة

For you from your straitness with it latitude,

And for your works in it expanse,

صهوة الريح اعلونها آمرا

ألجمن هذا الجواد النافرا

The plateau of the wind we ascend commanding,

Subjugate this unwilling steed,

شق قلب الطود عن جوهره

شق موج البحر عن در به

Splitting the heart of the mountain from its essence,

Splitting the wave of the sea from within it a pearl,

ألف كون في فضاء تكفت

رب شمس قد حوتها ذرة

A thousand universes in folded space,

Lord of suns contained in an atom,

بشعاع أظهرن ما احتجبا

واكشفن عن كل سر حجبا

With a ray reveal what is hidden,

And uncover every secret veil,

من شعاع الشمس نارا فاقبس

ومن السيل بروقا فاخلس

From the ray of the sun take fire and kindle,

And from the torrent take lightning and sneak,

ثابت الأنجم أو سياره

التي قد عبدت أنوارها

Fixed stars or wandering,

Which its lights were worshipped,

كلها يا صاح عبدان لكا

وإماء سخرت من أجلكا

All of them O consciousness slaves for you,

And maidens subjected for your sake,

سيرن فكرك فيها عسسا

سخرن آفاقها والأنفسا

Make your mind walk in them gently,

Harness their horizons and selves,

افتح العين وأنعم نظرا

أبصرن في الراح معنى مضمرا

Open your eye and bestow a look,

See in the comfort an implicit meaning,

كم ضعيف في قوي أمرا

حين في الكون أجال البصرا

How weak in the command of the powerful,

When in the universe he gazed,

أيها المقصود من أمر انظروا

كيف في آفاقها لا تنظر

O you who are intended from the order "look",

How in its horizons you do not look,

قطرة من نفسها ذات خبر

خمرة في الكرم طل في الزهر

A drop from itself it has news,

Wine in the vine, spot on the flower,

وهي في البحر تراها جوهرا

جوهرا كالنجم في الليل سرى

And it in the sea you see it as essence,

Essence like a star in the night walked,

كالصبا لا تهف حول الصور

اطلبن في الروض معنى الزهر

Like the breeze not hovering around forms,

Seek in the garden the meaning of the flower,

دون مضراب لحون سيرا

ومن الأحرف طيرا طيرا

Without a baton melodies walk,

And from letters birds, birds,

أيها الظالع في حزن الحياه

أيها الغافل عن طعن الحياه

O you rising in the sorrow of life,

O you heedless of the stab of life,

بلغ السعي الرفاق المنزلا

أنزلوا ليلى وحطوا المحملا

Reach the comrades the abode,

They descended Layla and unloaded the howdah,

وبقيت اليوم قيسا مبلسا

في الصحارى عاجزاً مستيثا

And you remain today Qais downcast,

In the deserts helpless, embarrassed,

علم الأسماء فخر الآدمي

حكمة الأشياء نصر الآدمي

The science of names pride of mankind,

Wisdom of things victory of mankind.
