1. أباهي بوجدٍ قد تمكن في الحشا

    وذلك فضل الله يؤتيه من يشا

    I boast of a passion that has taken root in my innermost being

    That is the grace of God, He gives it to whom He wishes

  2. أسر بشوق روح الروح ذوقه

    وكيفية منها حشاي قد احتشا

    I confide the longing of the soul, its taste

    And how it makes my inner self exult

  3. الذ بشوق بعد ما كنت ميتا

    وماني في وجد الغرام وانعشا

    I clung with yearning after I was dead

    And I am not in the rapture of love and came back to life

  4. كسبت ببذل الروح ذوقا من الهوى

    من الراي ان يغني المصالح بالرشا

    I gained a taste of passion through giving my soul

    It is the view that good counsel satisfies with sprinkling

  5. حما اللَه ظبيا صار في للجاظه

    وصبرني عن غيره متوحشا

    God protected a gazelle that came to graze in the meadow

    And granted me patience from other beasts

  6. سقى اللَه غصناً ما يسا متعدلا

    معادله في روضة الحس ما تشا

    God watered a branch that did not straighten evenly

    Its match in the garden of perception did not sprout

  7. محرك اشواق تحرك قده

    يوقف دوران الزمان اذا مشا

    It moves the passions that move the self

    It stops the rotation of time if it walks

  8. فلولا مدار الدهر مركز خاله

    لكان نظام الكاينات مشوشا

    If not for the cycle of fate, its empty center

    The system of existence would be chaotic

  9. فلو كان عذب العمر من ين وصله

    لما كان فرد من بني النوع عايشا

    If the sweetness of life were for those who attain union

    No individual human would remain alive

  10. ولو كان في عين الخيوة عفافه

    لما زاد منها الخضر الا تعطشا

    If the pupil of the eye had chastity in it

    The greens would not increase except in thirst

  11. بديع زمان نور لطف جماله

    تحجب في سر التعشعشع واغتشا

    Wondrous is the age whose light of grace

    Is veiled in the secret of gushing and flooding

  12. محير اهل العقل معجز حسنه

    لان مع ا لاظهار في الاختفا فشا

    It confuses the minds, a miracle its beauty

    For with manifestation in hiding it diffused

  13. بخديه نور لو يخالط بعضه

    مع الصبح قطعا لا يقارنه العشا

    With his cheeks a light that if mixed

    With dawn, it would surely not compare to the night

  14. نهاني عن ميل الوصال كانه

    توهم عن لوم العواذل واختشا

    It prohibited me from inclining toward union as if

    It suspected blame from the chaste and took cover

  15. قنعت بتصوير الخيال ضرورة

    نهيت مع الاجبار عن ذلك الرشا

    I sufficed with picturing in my imagination out of necessity

    I was forbidden from that sprinkling

  16. صبرت على هم وحزن وحسرة

    رأيت جميعاً في الحشا محوشا

    I was patient with anxiety, sorrow and regret

    I saw them all erased in the meadow

  17. فان عشت في صبري تأمل مقصدي

    وان لم اعش زبني على عاذلي وشا

    So if I live in my patience, consider my aim

    And if I do not live, bury me by my critic and sprinkle

  18. خليلي غير العشق مالي صنعةً

    على وجه جمهور الامور هو الغشا

    My friend, apart from passion I have no craft

    Over the face of all matters it is the cover

  19. محى حين تصوير الهوى قلم القضا

    على لوح قلبي كل نقش تنقشا

    When picturing love, the pen of destiny erased

    Every inscription it carved on the tablet of my heart

  20. سرى العشق مجموع الفعال فوحش

    فلا عيب لي لو ما ارتكبت فواحشا

    Passion flowed, the sum of deeds thus it raged

    So I have no fault if I committed some indecencies

  21. يكدرني لوم العواذل في الهوى

    فيا ليتني عن قولهم كنت اطرشا

    Blame from the chaste irritates me in passion

    Oh, if only about their words I were deaf

  22. فلم تمح اثار الهوى عن سريرتي

    وان لامني فيها العذول وناقشا

    So the traces of passion did not erase from my inner conscience

    Even if the chaste blamed me and argued

  23. فكيف انا في العشق جهلاً وانه

    مفيض صفا العقل والروح والحشا

    How am I ignorantly in passion, and it is

    The outpouring of pure reason, soul, and mind

  24. لمنعت نبي عز رفعه قدره

    بساط كمال القدر في العرش افرشا

    If it prevented the Prophet of mighty worth exalted is his value

    From spreading the carpet of perfect value in the Highest Heaven

  25. نبي كريمٌ غصن قدر كماله

    على العرش بالفوع الرفيع تعرشا

    A noble Prophet, a branch whose worth's perfection

    Is over the Highest Heaven in the highest orbit

  26. اذا نور المعراج برق براقه

    فمن سيره قد صارا دهم ابرشا

    When the light of the Ascension flashed with its brilliance

    For his journey had become a luminous lightning

  27. شر البحر للاحسان ولجود والندى

    اليه فضولي ما يلا متعطشا

    The evils of the sea sought his benevolence, generosity and dew

    To it my superfluous would not cease being thirsty
