  1. بكم وغرامي محنتي وتولعي

    وفرط حنيني نحوكم وتوجعي

    With longing and my torment and burning desire

    And the excess of my yearning for you and my agony

  2. ومنكم وحق الحب اصل صبابتي

    وفيكم وإن دمتم على الصد مطمعي

    And from you and for the sake of love the origin of my youth

  3. هواكم بسوداء الفؤاد إلى المدى

    مقيم وصبري ماله ألفةٌ معي

    Your love in the darkness of my heart to eternity

    Resides, and my patience has no intimacy with me

  4. إلى الله مالي من معين على الأسى

    سوى فرط أشجاني ومحمر ادمعي

    To God I have no helper against sorrow

    Except the excess of my passions and reddened tears

  5. سلوا الليل هل عيني ألم بها كرى

    وهل بعدكم جنبي استقر بمضجعي

    Ask the night if my eye suffered from worries

    And if after you my side found rest in my bed

  6. ألا فانظروا تحرير دمعي فانه

    يفيد أولي الألباب ما بين أضلعي

    Lo, then see the shedding of my tear for it

    Informs the wise what lies between my ribs

  7. أما والهوى ما عشت لن اترك الهوى

    وان كنت ادري انه فيه مصرعي

    But the love - as long as I live I'll not abandon love

    Even if I know that therein lies my demise

  8. إذا ما الفتي لم يقض في الحب نحبه

    فيا عاره ما فاز بالحب مدعي

    When a young man does not fulfil his share of love

    Oh, shame that he claimed love in vain

  9. متى عندي صرق ما ادعي به

    حلالي خضوعي للهوى وتضرعي

    When with me is the truthfulness of my claim

    My obedience to love and my pleading

  10. لقد شف جسمي ما بقلبي من الجوى

    وقد صم عن من لامني فيه مسمعي

    Indeed, my body healed what was in my heart of longing

    And deaf to those who blamed me regarding it my hearing

  11. على أن من أهواه ديدنه الجفا

    وإني على عهد الوفا غير مقلعي

    However, the one I loved, his way is indifference

    While I to the covenant of fidelity will not swerve

  12. حبيبي لا أستطيع أشكو لك الذي

    بقلبي والشكوى لها غير موضع

    My beloved, I cannot complain to you of that

    Which is in my heart, for complaint has no place

  13. إذا أنا من سكري صحوت عرضتها

    عليك وأرجو أن تحل بموقع

    If from my intoxication I awakened I set it forth

  14. فما أرى إلا أنت قصداً أؤمه

    ولن أرى إلا نحوك العمر مرجعي

    وأهلاً وسهلاً بالعتاب المنوع

    My greetings to the people of fidelity wherever they incline
