وشى بالذي تحوي من الحب أضلعي
علي لدى العذال سقمي وأدمعي
My ribs whisper of the love they contain
For my beloved, my sickness and tears remain
فأصبحت معذولاً ولو عاذلي
رأى هواي لما أمسى بعذلٍ مقرعي
So I became rejected, though she was the one who deserted me
If she saw my love, she would not have abandoned me so cruelly
لي الله من قلبٍ يزيد صبابة
ومن مدمع مهما أكفكفه يهمع
May God grant me a heart that increases in passion
And tears that flow no matter how much I hold them back
يقولون عذالي دع الحب وإرعوي
وأني لصب ذاق طعم الهوى يعي
They say, leave love and tend to yourself
Yet I am one who has tasted the sweetness of passion
فقلت دعوني اقضي نحبي فإنني
أرى كل من لم يقض في الحب مدعي
So I said, let me fulfill my love, for I see
That those who did not fulfill love were only pretenders
كفى أسوة من مات قبلي متيماً
كمجنون ليلى الهائم المنزوع
It is enough to follow those who died before me lovesick
Like Majnun wandering madly, detached
أعيذ من السلوان مع قول عاذلي
فؤادي المعنى بالغرام ومسمعي
I seek refuge from agreeing with those who blame me
My heart is filled with love, and my hearing attuned
إلى الله من فرط الغرام وحره
ومن هجر من أضنى فؤادي مفزعي
To God I complain of the excess of my love and its heat
And the one who abandoned me and made my heart panic
لقد ضيع الود المؤكد بيننا
وإني له ما عشت غير مضيع
Indeed, the guaranteed affection between us is lost
And I will never lose it, as long as I live
وأطلق دمعي بعد أن طلق الكرى
لعيني فجنبي لا يلم بمضجع
My tears flow after the beloved has left
So spare me, for my bedfellow cannot warm me
وأحرق بالهجران قلبي ولم يزل
مصراً عليه ليس عنه بمقلع
My heart is scorched by estrangement, and he persists
In it, he cannot be dissuaded
فيا مهجتي ذوبي ويا مقلتي كفي
ويا كبدي إن دام هذا تقطعي
So my inner self, melt away; my heart, stop;
My liver, if this continues, you will be severed
أأبقى كما تهوى الحواسد وامقاً
خليعاً لنسكي تاركاً تطوعي
Shall I remain as the envious wish, in despair
Abandoning my devotion, forsaking my prayers?
لعمري لقد أشفى هواي حواسدي
وأضنى لمن مني بمرأ ومسمع
By my life, my passion has healed my enviers
And made sympathetic those who found fault with me
فيا رحمتا هل لي معين على الهوى
وهل لي إليه من شفيع مشفع
O Most Merciful, will anyone help me with my love?
Is there an intercessor to intercede for me?
لقد طال منه البعد وهو بغية
لكل محب مغرم متولع
The distance from him has been long, though he is the goal
Of every enamored passionate lover
عجبت له يسعى لقتلي وقد رأى
نصيري مليكاً ذا جنابٍ ممنع
I wonder that he seeks to kill me though he has seen
My protector, a noble king, impenetrable
أعز الملوك الشم من يرهب العدا
شريف اسمه إذ ما به غيره دعي
The most glorious king, he who frightens the enemies
His noble name, none but him can claim
مروي الظبا يوم الجلاد من الطلى
ومؤى العفا منه بأمرع مربع
A downpour on the day of battle, a flood
And refuge for the virtuous, a fortified refuge
سليل سراة فيصلياً متى إستمى
يدن كل فتاك لديه ويخضع
Descendant of honorable ancestors, whenever he determines
Every warrior approaches him in submission
هو القائد الحمس الميامين فيصل
حماة الوغى من كل شهم سميدع
He is the trusted Imam Faisal
Protector from every arrogant tyrant
فويل لمختالٍ أبى طاعةً له
سيشرب من كاس من الحتف منزع
Woe to the arrogant one who disobeys him
He will drink from the cup of death and perish
أيقضي عن الأعداء حاشاه طرفه
وصارمه للهام ما يهوا يقلع
Will he wake to strike the enemies? God forbid!
His sword harvests lives whenever it desires
ويوم قراع قد تلظى وطيسه
لكل هزبر ثابت القلب مفزع
He continued as such until the war concluded
And the heads of enemies were all severed
يشيب به المولود قبل فصاله
وتذهل عن طفل لها كل مرضع
He won praise and the precious spoils
Of their works and creations
به باشر الجلا على ظهر سابح
اعز كلمح الطرف مجراه طيع
His generosity comes down like rainfall
Upon all who hope in him everywhere
فجندل من أبطالها كل باتكٍ
مشيحاً متى ما يدعى للموت يسرع
His gifts defy counting, so glorious
That no aspiring critic can find deficiency
بضربٍ يزيل الهام عن مستقره
وطعن بتارٍ واسمر أصلع
Some people wish to compete with him in might
But that is impossible, human nature cannot change
وما زال حتى داخت الحرب وانطوت
وقد غص من هام العدا كل مشرع
Is he like my father Taimur in our time, that man
Who came with calumny, as was claimed?
فحاز الثنا واحتاز ما ادخروه من
نفيس ومن أعمالهم كل مبدع
And who dares describe him as violent and attained
Except with evidence, convincing and sound?
وآب إياب الغيث يسكب جوده
على كل من يرجوه في كل موضع
O noble one, essence of the age
Renewed by the great respected kingdom
هبات عن الإحصا تجل لفرطها
فمن راتع في فضلها متطلع
O son of kings who did not sleep on arrogance
And deemed nothing but the heights worthy of desire
يود أناس أن يباروه في العلى
وهيهات طبع النفس غير التطبع
To you, a noble bride yearns
Passionately sought by all suitors
أمثل أبي تيمور في عصرنا أمرؤ
لقد جاء بالبهتان من كان يدعي
Aqila, whose words steal reason
All mouths confess her supreme merit
ومن ذا الذي يحكيه بطشا ونائلا
ألا من دليلٍ عند من قال مقنع
May it be well with noble Suleiman
On the throne of the Most High, preserved and protected
أيا شرف العصر الذي أنت عينه
وجدد بالملك العظيم المتبع
Bless the best of humanity, Ahmad
The guided prophet, the purest intercessor
ويا ابن ملوكٍ لم يناموا على القذا
ولم يرضهم دون العلى كل مطمع
And his family and companions, whenever
A riding beast travels to Sala' and Lalal
إليك عروساً يا بن تركي عزيزة
يهيم ويصبو نحوها كل المع
With the melting love that has seized my being
For my beloved, my sickness and tears remain
عقيلة الفاظها تسلب الحجى
يقر بتفضيل لها كل مصقع
ودم سالماً سامٍ عزيزاً معظماً
بعرش العلى واسلم وعش وتمنع
وصل على أزكى البرية احمد
رسول الهدى الاتقى الشفيع المشفع
مع الآل والأصحاب ما عن ذكرهم
وما أم ركب نحو سلع ولعلع
وما تم بالحب المذيب لمهجتي
