May no other you love as a friend

Or bid you days of peace

ولا تفتك في وهمٍ وهم

وتقريع العواذل بالملام

Lose not yourself in illusion upon illusion

Or chastise the coquettish with blame

ولا تسلو الحبيب ولا تراه

ولا يفتك دمعك في انسجام

Find no solace in your beloved nor see him

Nor let your tears flow in harmony
