مضى زمان ولم توفوا وعودكموا

عفواً فحبل رجائي منكم إنقطعا

حسبتكم كيف شاء الود شئتكم

يا غادرين بمن في حبكم وقعا

I thought of you as affection willed, as you wished,

O perfidious ones! By the one who fell in love with you and was harmed,

ما هكذا فيكموا قد كان معتقدي

بل اعتقدت الوفا فيكم فما نفعا

This is not what I believed you to be,

Rather, I believed in your loyalty, but it was of no use,

دعوا الجفى واعطفوا بالوصل واغتنموا

رضى المحب ففيكم رشده خلعا

Cease your aloofness, draw near with connection, and seize

The satisfaction of the lover, for in you lies his wisdom's rejection.
