I used to think our two hearts were for our harmony

Meeting before a year of our meeting

أتذكرين قُبيل الفجر مجلسنا

كأنما النجم عقدٌ بين أيدينا

Do you remember before dawn our sitting

As if the star was a necklace between our hands

نبوح لليل عن أسرار قصتنا

بتنا نُسَلّيه والذكرى تُسلّينا

We confess to the night the secrets of our story

We used to console it and the memory consoles us

لم يبقَ شيءٌ من الذكرى نخبّئه

إلا الحنين ودمع في مآقينا

Nothing remained of the memory we hide

Except yearning and tears in our suffering

كنا بوصلٍ فأمسى الوصل أمنية

متى سنبلغ يا قلبي أمانينا !؟

We were in harmony, so harmony became a wish

When will we attain, O my heart, our wishes!?
