خطب أعار لقلبي الهمّ والقلقا
وأودع المقلتين المع والأرقا
He gave my heart worries and anxiety
And deposited in my eyelids insomnia and wakefulness
أرى سهام المنايا لم تدع أحدا
ولا تغادر أهل الملك والسوقا
I see the arrows of death spared no one
Not even the kings and people of the markets
من رزء مختارنا بن الفضال انفتقا
في الدين فتق فاعظم بالذي انفتقا
The death of our chosen one, son of virtue, shocked us
His virtue made his death even more shocking
واختل في الدين شمل كان منتظما
به وبدر الهدى من فقده محقا
And disputed in religion, his united community
Became separated by his loss that left truth effaced
يوم من الخافقات الشهب يوم قضى
من هو له سال دمع العين وانخفقا
A day of stars falling, the day he passed away
He who cried and grieved over his loss
قد كنت أسطو على ريب الزمان به
عضبا وادفع عني كل ما طرقا
I used to blame fate for him
And defend myself from all that happened
لهفي على لوذعيّ ذي ندى وتقى
وهيبة تملأ الأفكار والحدقا
Yearning for my refuge of light and piety
Whose awe filled minds and sights
وذي معارف ربانية وهدى
وهمة علت العيوق والأفقا
Of divine knowledge and guidance
And ambition that transcended all horizons
وفرط دود وعقل كامل وذكا
داري به ضعفاء العقل والحمقا
A surplus of generosity, perfect reasonable mind
Who guided the foolish and incompetent
فّاح ما انغلقا مفتاح ما انطبقا
رتّاق ما انفتقا رقاع ما انخرقا
Key that opened what was locked
Patch that mended what was torn
وزّاع من فسقا جمّاع ما افترقا
جبّار ما انفلقا دأداء من فرقا
Disperser of those gone astray, uniter of those separated
Subduer of those divided, eliminator of those distinguished
يث إذا اندفقا ليث إذا حنقا
مسك إذا عبقا لكلّ من نشقا
When angry a lion, when raging a musk
To those in discord, a conciliator
ماح لما اختلقا فارٍ لما خلَقا
منج لمن غرقا ملجا لمن دحقا
A shelter for those who drowned, refuge for the collapsed
Trustworthy when he spoke, obedient to his Creator
صدوق ان نطقا مطيع من خلقا
عماد من زلقا مهد لمن ذلقا
Support of those who slipped, cradle of those fallen
He surpassed his peers by God, surely bonded
اقرانه سبقا باللّه قد وثقا
وحاز فرط تقى ربّي به الفرقا
And deserved exceptional piety that distinguished him
The honest one of manners, the sword of guiding light
صافي الخلائق روح العدل سيف هدى
من الشريعة حلّى الصدر والعنقا
He adorned Shariah, graced the chest and neck
Of sweet traits, the crown of the gnostics and from
حلو الشمائل تاج العارفين ومن
بحر الحقيقة ربي القلب منه سقى
The sea of truth my Lord has quenched his heart
The reality and the Shariah combined in him
علم الحقيقة والشريعة اجتمعا
له فأضحى بربي من به النحقا
So he excelled, by my Lord effacing the helpless
A sea of generosity and abundant knowledge so if
وبحر جود وعلم زاخر وإذا
ما معتفوه أتوه فاض واندفقا
Asked he overflowed and poured forth
He covered truth with brocade and embroidered it
كسا الحقيقة ديباجا وطرّزه
في عصره ثم أضحى بعده خلقا
In his time, then after him became a people
Through him the corruption of heresies tottered and in
به تضعضع سوء المحدثات وفي
أيامه زهق البطلان وانسحقا
His days falsehood expired and crumbled
Wealth spent protecting honor, his character is pure
مبذول مال مصون العرض طاهره
جالي دجُنّة ليل الشك ان غسقا
Dazzling, the night of doubt when it darkens
His slogan is righteousness and piety and his religion
شعاره البر والتقوى وديدينه
رضى الاله خديم الضيف ان طرقا
Is satisfying God, serving guests if they knocked
So religion is organized and the generation spread
فالدين منتظم والجيل منتشر
به وحسّن منه الخالق الخلقا
Through him, the Creator beautified people
The necks of sinners and wrongdoers bowed
أعناق أهل الخطايا والذنوب غدا
مفكّكا عنهم الأغلال والربقا
Their shackles and chains unlocked through him
And my poetry is most beautiful when recited
وقد زان شعري أن الشعر أحسنه
مدح يقال إذا أنشدته صدقا
As praise, declared as truth when chanted
My Lord of the two brilliant dawns
يا رب من نور البدرين والفلقا
وخص أحمد بالمعراج حين رقى
And God favored Ahmed in his heavenly ascension
Hasten with your grace the chosen one forgiveness
عجل بفضلك للمختار مغفرة
واجعله بالرسل والابرار ملتحقا
And make him join the prophets and the righteous
Rain upon him abundant contentment
وأصبب سجال الرضى عليه مترعة
وسيل عفو ولطف هامر غدقا
And send him abundant pardon and kindness
And make his grave secured and spacious
واجعله في القبر في أمن وفي سعة
واجعله للحور في الفردوس معتنقا
And make him embraced by the heavenly maidens
