لا راحُة البال أحرزنا ولا البالا

جُنَّ الجنونُ وليُل الليل قد طالا

We have found no peace of mind, nor comfort

Madness has descended, and the night is long

تهدم البيتُ وانهار تقوائمُه

قربى وعاطفًة وانهَّد آمالا

The house lies in ruins, its pillars collapsed

Kinship, affection, and hopes dashed

قد كان لي وطنٌ ح،اولتُ أجمعُه

على الهوى مرًة فانشّق أوصالا

I once had a homeland I tried to gather

To passion, which then tore apart

شظيٌة لم تُوف كَيَل من كالا

A shard that did not fulfill any measure

كانت هي الأرضُ مثل القلبِ واحدًة

ماذا جرى؟ ولمن نشكوا له الحالا؟

The land was once like one heart

What has happened? To whom do we complain of our state?
