لمن الضحايا مُّزقت أشلاء

وانساب درب الثائرين دماء؟

For whom were the victims torn limb from limb

And the path of the rebels flowed with blood?

ولمن تناثرت الجماجم ها هنا

وهنا وماج بها الطريُق ونآء

For whom were the skulls scattered here and there

And the road was filled with their wailing?

ولمن تقحَّمتِ المنون قوافل

المستشهدين وشقت الأرزاء

For whom did the caravans of martyrs

Storm through death and tear through misery?

واستعذبت خوضَ الجحيم ورصَّعت

بحراحها وجه الدروب فداء

Who found sweetness in entering hell

And paved the roads with their open wounds as sacrifice?

هذا التساؤل .. أين كان جوابه؟

من ذا يجيب؟ ومن يرُّد نداء؟

This question...where can its answer be found?

Who will respond? Who will answer the call?
