فتحسب الورد شعرا

Hiding malice from the eyes

From which ambitions are seen

فكيف تهوى إليها

وأنت أرفع قدرا

So how can you love her

When you are of higher worth

تصبو لها من قديم

وما صبوت لأخرى

You have longed for her

And never longed for another

يدب فيك هواها

فيملأ القلب سحرا

Her love creeps into you

And fills your heart with magic

فكيف تبعد عنها

وقد جهلت المقرا

So how can you distance yourself from her

When you do not know the path

وأنت صب عليل

من حبها لست تبرا
