أفلاذ أكباد الجنوب تجمعوا

فرقا كأسراب الطيور الحوم

The beloved ones gathered

Like flocks of birds in the south

فوق الجبال وفي الكهوف وحيث لا

ترقى إليهم عين وغد مجرم

On the mountains, in the caves, where no

Eye can reach, and tomorrow a criminal

سكتوا وأرسلت البنادق منطقًا

هو فوق سحر بلاغة المتكلم

They kept silent and the rifles spoke

With an eloquence beyond the orator

كما ساق أعداء الإله إليهم

جيشا كأمواج الخضم المرتمي

As if they brought to them an army

Like the waves of the endless sea

وأتته أسباب المنية من علٍ

من حيث لم يشعر بها أو يعلم

And death came to them from a

Place they didn't feel or know

أرضي وفيها طعنة مسمومة

تدمي فؤاد الشاعر المتألم

My land with a poisoned stab

That makes the heart of the poet hurt

فيها القراصنة اللئام صلاتهم

بشريعة الغابات لم تتصرم

In it the villain pirates pray

To the law of the jungle unchanged
